Pre-race routine:

sat in car and tried to stay warm. rainy and cold before the start.
Event warmup:

stretched inside registration building and jogged back to car to put jacket back since it stopped raining.

Comments:

started a little ways back with k since it was chip timing and i didn't want the urge to follow the leaders. worked my way through the crowd once we crossed the starting mat and found a good spot/pace.
the hills came earlyy and it felt like i was crawling, but ended up holding a good pace. held on until the downhills and let it go a little. downhills were pretty steep, but the back half was mostly downhill so it went by faster. was able to sprint for a good finish.

What would you do differently?:

train more on hills and eat a gu halfway.
Post race
Warm down:

grabbed a cup of water and walked/jogged back to catch k and finish with her. she looked great and was nice to go down the final mile again.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

hillwork and overall fitness.

Event comments:

great race. crowd support on a rainy thanksgiving morning was amazing. tons of residents out in their driveways drinking/cheering. really cool. one house had a full on party with kegs and music. theywere all loaded and singing/dancing as they cheered the runners by. i wanted to join them.
it was the 97th running of the race and i would definitely do this race again.
