Pre-race routine:

Race didnt start til 10 a.m. so there was too much time to stress over what to wear and carry. Pre-race routine consisted mostly of putting on various combinations of clothing and fuel carriers while getting increasingly nervous about the event.
Event warmup:

I did some stretching in my room before heading out into the lobby to meet with other BTers. As I was doing marathon, didnt want to waste too much energy with warmup.

Comments:

All I can say is I did the best I could. I knew this was going to be tough. Technically, one should train for a marathon for a longer period of time than the 3 months. I think if I had had another couple of months and could have tapered and built one more time, I might have done less walking and finished with a better time, but overall I am quite happy with the outcome.
What would you do differently?:

I might have chosen a marathon a little further out to give myself more time to train and get comfortable with the distance, but I am glad I have my first under my belt and believe I will do better with the next.

Warm down:

My warm-down was more of a fall-down :). My feet really took the brunt of it and it was tough to keep walking on them. The muscles in my arches were so taught that my big toes were pointing outward and if I tried to flex my feet, it was all I could do to keep them from cramping up!! Thanks to Joanne and May for the great foot/calf massage! Its pretty amazing when two people you just met really are willing to get down on the ground with you and get with your smelly sweaty feet after a marathon. You guys are the best and I owe you one ;).

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not enough training.

Event comments:

We could not have asked for better weather for this event. The temp was just right and there was little or no wind to speak of. This definitely worked in my favor as I think the chances of not finishing would have been very real if it had been cold and windy. It was so great to hve a big crowd of BT peeps there to run with and to cheer me on. Thank you all for staying til the end. It made all the difference.

Course: The course was two loops through scenic Hyannis. This was tough because once you made it around the first time you knew you had to get around that same loop again and mentally that was tough. The first time around you saw the 20 mile marker and the 21 and so on though you were only at mile 6 or 7 and it was tough to think about the fact that you had to come around again for that 20 mile marker to mean something. My Garmin was about 1 to 2 tenths ahead of each mile marker which got difficult toward the end!!
