You know standard routine.
Event warmup:

They had a building across the street open so went there to stay warm and stretch

Comments:

As soon as the race started my hands went completely numb. couldn't feel a thing from any finger. I knew I wouldn't be able to grasp my water bottles or the cups at the stations so I just pasted the water stations by. At about 1/3 through I bagan to get some feeling in my right hand, by the half way point My right hand had full feeling and boy did it hurt, but now I could grab my water bottle for a drink. But even though the water wasn't frozen, enough had splashed up under the nozzle and froze it shut, so no water for me. I'm so glad I turned around to get it when I forgot it at home. At about 6 mile mark I started to get feeling in my left hand and that really was a stinging pain.

The second half of the race was more into the wind than with it and that really slowed me down. At one point the course went by an open field which let the full force of the cross wind hit me and that was really cold.

This race for me was more of a fitness test for my first marithon in May. In order to meet my marathon goal of 3:45 I should be able to do a 15K with a 8:00 m/m pace. So I was way off the mark for my goal.

What would you do differently?:

I never had this much trouble keeping my hands warm before, but I've nnot really run this hard when it was this cold before (and probably never will again). But if I do maybe I'll try putting a couple of those heat packs inside my gloves before the race.

Event comments:

Police blocking the major intersections and Lots of volenteers on the course especially considering how cold it was. There were only distance markers at 3 and 6, I ad hoped for markers at every mile since my polar has become unreliable and my Nike+Ipod also wasn't working well.
