Run
Comments: Running was fine. I was very comfortable at my pace. Constantly passed people which is to be expected since we crossed the start line a bit late. I had to coach Phillip to slow his pace a bit. He had never run 10k before and didn't realize his faster pace was gonna cause meltdown later on. My run was limited a bit since Phillip and I were a team. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I could have gone on without Phillip but thats just ridiculous. Did everything right. Some of the jumping stuff would have been easier if I lost a few pounds. Post race
Warm down: Hosed off by the fire truck, walked a bit to keep the legs loose. After changing into spare clothes we stretche out real well to keep the hammys and hip flexors solid. What limited your ability to perform faster: Most significant was not starting at the front of the pack. With so many participants bottlenecks tend to form at the first few obstacles and we were at the back of the line. On three of the obstacles I had to retry them since I was having trouble with the vertical aspect. Losing weight would help. Event comments: This years venue was certainly worse than last years. No music, only six kegs to satisfy the whole crowd. Phillip and I were happy to get one beer each before they ran out. Probably my biggest beef was that there was no flyover (last years was so cool!) and there were no freaking wave starts. Solo Males, Solo Females, Team Males, Team Females and Team Co-Eds all started at the same time which was a clusterfuck. The timing chips were a nice touch but the bio data wasn't entered correctly and everyone is either a M0-99 or a F0-99. I'm not sure the new base commander cares much about doing this event right. Light breakfast, picked up Phillip and drove the Carswell. Got RFID chip, used the restroom and got dressed out at the car. Drank a bottle of accelerade a bit less than an hour before race start.
Did some light jogging around the flight line. Due to some confusion Phillip ended up running a bit late (race volunteer at fault) so we basically fast jogged to the start line just in time for the launch.
