![]() Run
Comments: Felt great through the first half-did 13.1 miles in 1 hour 56 minutes. Tried to keep even splits. Then after the 14th mile I just kept slowing down. I wasn't trained to go this distance at a steady pace. Next time I plan to keep a 9 minute pace throughout. What would you do differently?: Train. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Walked around and tried to stretch out my quads. They were on fire. What limited your ability to perform faster: Did not train and couldn't keep a good pace in last half of race. Event comments: Very good race-lots of volunteers and cheerful people along the way. Good aid stations placed about every 2miles apart. Good race for a 1st marathon and if you want to qualify for Boston-good one to try on. Last updated: 2006-11-13 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:00 am -drank coffee and ate a bowl of raisin bran cereal. Left the house at 5:00 am- had to stop for gas, then headed to Chickamauga. Arrived at race site at the church at 6:30 and signed up for the race.
Stood around and talked to people I knew. I was using this as a training run since I had not trained for this and hadn't done any distance since Oct. 7th when I hiked the sweep for the Stump Jump 50K. I had been sick since then with bronchitis and a sinus infection and could't exercise at all. I was just hoping to do the distance and not drop out of the race.
