Swim
Comments: great swim for me (my 1st IM swim was a stronger pace than any race i have ever done). strong start and held pace thru out swim. did hit a few road blocks when people slowed but made my way into open gaps. What would you do differently?: drafted more b/c i felt strong thru the entire swim. do more kickboard work in training b/c my legs tighten up near the end from kicking for an hr. Transition 1
Comments: little weary out of the water. took my time getting suit off due to hammys being tight. long run thru trans. took time getting all bike gear on. had to run with bike shoes on. What would you do differently?: have items in trans bag ready to get together and go. Bike
Comments: good pacing and pushed the hills hard. the winds on the downhill were very tough which really worked the legs. had a long potty break on the 2nd and 3rd loops (about 4min each) and stopped at special needs for several mins to reload nutrition. What would you do differently?: be more efficient with potty breaks and special needs. not wear speedo as it destroyed my croch. Transition 2
Comments: tough running after bike in cleats. didnt feel too sore from bike. took too much time changing gear. took potty break before leaving trans. Run
Comments: first loop was 8:35 miles then went to 10:25 miles on the 2nd and 11min on the 3rd. felt good into the the start on run but once mile 10 hit was getting sore due to lack on run conditioning over last month of training. onll walked thru aid stations but after each loop time in aid stations got longer. What would you do differently?: be better prepared for run and walk every 2-3 aid stations. Post race
Warm down: ate pizza and french fries What limited your ability to perform faster: wind on bike, trans times (wasted time changing gear), and walking thru aid stations too much Event comments: this was my best race experience so far!!!! Last updated: 2006-12-10 12:00 AM

up at 3:45am. ate breakfast (blueberry bagel with peanut butter and honey, apple, a little brown rice and cup of coffee). did some stretching and played a game of solitare on the computer. headed to the race and arrived at 5:30am (hr prior to close of trans). got to race to load transition bags and prep bike. drank bottle of gatorade 1hr prior to race.
