Swim
Comments: We seeded ourselves according to times that they had set up. I tried to stay in the middle. I would rather pass people than get passed. Since this was my first tri I did not want to go out to hard. I passed a few people in the water. Almost had a collision with someone who was swimming up the lane as everyone else was going in the opposite direction. I exited the pool in good shape. What would you do differently?: Train in a bigger pool. Transition 1
Comments: Since this was my first transition, I feel that things went smoothly. I don't use clip on pedals so I just had to get my socks and sneakers on. I laid everything out that I needed. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: This was the first time that I have taken my bike on the road. Only trainer rides up until this point. It felt like the wind was in my face the whole ride. I got passed by quite a few people. I knew that the bike would be a problem. What would you do differently?: Get out and ride more on the road. Transition 2
Comments: I just had to dismount and get to the rack. I took a sip of gatorade and headed out for the run. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Coming off the bike my legs felt good. I had done a few bricks in my training but ridng a spin bike and going to the treadmill is definitely different. Poured some water over my head on the second loop. What would you do differently?: Push the run a little harder. Post race
Warm down: Had some water and fruit. Took a couple of pictures with my kids. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of swimming in a larger pool and needing more time on the road with my bike. Event comments: This was a great event for my first Tri experience. I got to meet 1st Timer(Tim) and Cobanerro(Ed). I think they have talked me into doing a tri in Staten Island. This was a good way to start my tri career. The first thing my wife said after I finished was "i want to do this next year", she is a runner. I am happy with my finish, I had a goal to finish under 45 minutes but I was in the top third overall. Last updated: 2007-01-06 12:00 AM

Walked around and spoke with a few people. Had a bagel with peanut butter at home and had a GU about 15 minutes prior to the start of the tri. Set up my transition area.
I swam 100 meters in the pool, which felt like the ocean since I have only trained in a pool that is 40 feet. It was weird to swim in the 50 meter, 10 lane pool. I don't think I can use the smaller pool again. As I approached the deep end 17 ft, it was weird.
