  • Comments: The only thing that stops me from giving a 5 is my hatred for the mass pool swims. *Technically, this was my first official triathlon. Having been doing enough du/biath/aqua dual events, I have been ready. I am happy, but feel like I can and should get better. Racing swims makes my enjoyment of swimming drop big time. I can LOVE swimming if I am not so concerened for my pace....people messing with my pace....worrying about my pace.....asking myself a million questions while swimming, wondering if Im going too hard, am I wasting energy, etc etc. The swims are such a frikn mental mind fk

  • Comments: For a smaller venue...they did a great job. I'll be back every year. Because it is so short, it's 100% on the participant to make it what they will. You can make it a <40m sprint, a warm up for the season, or just so you can say "I'm a triathlete".

  • Comments: I would like to do this again as I am sure I can greatly improve my swim and run times - and I SHOULD be able to fix those transition times. Hell I would even consider making an on the fly decision and running barefoot if I had to to save T2 if I had runners legs under me next time out.

  • Comments: This was my first triathlon, but based on some of the 5k races I've done, this race was very very well organized. Everyone, volunteers and participants, were super nice. I was really impressed.

  • Comments: This is a great race to start the season for a beginner or a seasoned veteran. And the truth is, I'm still a beginner!! And the truth is, despite the short distances, it still hurts just the same!! Just for a shorter amount of time. HUGE CONGRATS to my buddy Derrick (Sevenride) for a 1st in his AG and my friend Dan (Elroy303) for 2nd in his AG. If not for my mistake in T2, I would have only been 2:20 from 1st Place OA, and 1:32 from a Top 3 spot. So with continued time in the Pool, as well as Biking and Running fo course, I know an OA Podium is a realistic goal for me at this event. A goal I intend to chase until I've captured it. :) Also, a huge thanks to all the amazing volunteers clad in raincoats and plastic bags, braving the stormy conditions so we could race.

  • Comments: I don't have anything to compare it to, and driving rain and wind kind of dampened any outdoor fun that might have been happening. Hot soup at the finish went down perfectly. This race would make an outstanding early season tune up for more experienced athletes training for a longer event later in the season, and obviously it was an ideal first race for a new triathlete. Recommended!

  • Comments: My first Tri ever. A good introduction to the sport. I learned a great deal by doing and watching. Need to get a new bike, train harded with running intervals and swimming in open water. Also need to practice with new bike to shave off time there and work on transition time which should help next time. What a fun expereince to be part of this,

  • Comments: Great staff- very encouraging, energetic, and hardworking. Everything was really well organized. My mom, a non-athlete and probably the least competitive person you'll ever meet, said she loved how the atmosphere was supportive and fun, as opposed to competitive and stressful.

  • Comments: This was my first triathlon. I met a lot of people at this race 2 years ago that I am still friends with today. I think it's great for beginners because the distances are short and you don't have to worry about all the logistics and anxieties that accompany an OWS. I also think this race is good for more seasoned Triathletes as it allows you to practice your transitions in a Race environment very early in the season, and it teaches you very early in the season how to suffer, and it helps you blow out the Winter cobwebs and get ready for the coming season!

  • Comments: I'd give it four and a half if I could. For the number of people there, it was very well organized, allowed us the pleasure of cheering on the kids, featured volunteers and race personnel that were awesome with their encouragement, had a tremendously newbie helpful race briefing and was a most enjoyable second race of my triathlon career.

  • Comments: EventPowerLI.com runs a good beginner sprint event. However I plan on suggesting they offer more racks than a regular Olympic event because a lot of beginners and first-timers use mountain bikes which tend to take up A LOT more room than road and tri bikes. In my rack alone there were three or four mountain bikes and the bikes were literally wedged in together. I am much more looking forward to the organizations Hamptons Olympic and Montauk Half Ironman event.

  • Comments: In all this was an excellent, very well-run event. All of the volunteers and employees were very kind, cheerful and helpful. Kudos to Event Power LI. Love the goody back, top-notch t-shirt, love the finishers medal, the course was clean and well-prepped (fresh top soil was applied and raked out in some rough spots) body-marking (my first experience with that) was really cool, too. Lastly this event was a huge success mostly because I met two new friends my same age who are just like me. We chatted it up before and after the event, made plans to train together, exchanged e-mails, and one of the them told me something amazing I never knew... That there is an XTERRA Triathlon less than a 1/2 mile from my house!!! How crazy is that!! Of course I signed up for it as soon as I got home. Now I gotta do more research on a mountain bike - full supsension or hard-tail? Hmmm...

  • Comments: I loved this race and since it was my first time doing this particular race, I was really trying to do my best. At times it was like being blind cause i had no idea where we were going. Now i have times to beat, improvements to make and I will be gunning for them in August.

  • Comments: This was my 3rd year doing this event but my first time doing a relay of any kind. The fact my wife and her cousin can't wait to do this event next year is the best thing I could have heard. We finished with a big smile, they now have a goal to go for some hardware for next year. Guess I better get my act together on swimming to help give them that opportunity. Even better, there is an very good change they will convince other memebers of the family to do a relay next year as well. Other members are anxious about it now. And the diseas keeps on spreading. :)

  • Comments: This is the third year of the race's existence and of my participation. I still would recommend this race to any first timer and anyone looking for a fun way to open the tri season with. I'll be back next year. Hope to see more BTers then. Ralph & Tim it was great meeting you guys - hope you had as much fun as I did and keep coming back.

  • Comments: This was a great event for my first Tri experience. I got to meet 1st Timer(Tim) and Cobanerro(Ed). I think they have talked me into doing a tri in Staten Island. This was a good way to start my tri career. The first thing my wife said after I finished was "i want to do this next year", she is a runner. I am happy with my finish, I had a goal to finish under 45 minutes but I was in the top third overall.

  • Comments: This was my first tri ever and I am very proud of myself for finishing. I know where my limitations lie and I will address that. Only 6 mos ago I was smoking a pack of cigs a day, couldn't swim 50m without being winded and forget about running and I didn't even own a bike (now I have 2!!). Quick "gave me chills story": My best friend was killed on September 11 and we've known each other since we were 5..were college roommates for 3 years (we broke up for a year 4th year). We always talked about doing a triathlon together but there were beers to drink and pot to smoke, so we never did. During school breaks we would always drive home together (6 hours) and it was spooky how for 6 trips in a row we heard "Take me Home" by Phil Collins on the radio in roughly the same area of the interstate. After my tri yesterday, I begin to drive home and "Take me Home" comes on the radio! I miss you Richie and thanks for being there with me!

  • Comments: Was dissappointed there were no finishing medals this year. There were plenty of bagesls with nothing to spread on them. Those are my only little gripes for this race that I've done before. Was amazed at how Andreas (race director), remembered no only me but my name despite us talking for (maybe), only 30sec last year (this guy has about 6 races he organizes every year). Looking at the run course this year, compared to last (& from experience), I know someone totally screwed up setting up the run course last year. This explains why my run time registed something like a 5min/mi pace in 05. I'm happier with my performance this year, compared to last but not totally what I should've done. I need to make sure I come close to getting to the top of my AG for 07. My family immediately noticed my swim was much fast & smoother. I didn't appear to almost collapse (while gasping for air), at the walls. I still managed to pass one person in the water (Carol again) :) And am very happy
