Swim
Comments: Mellow swim - just relaxed and tried to save energy for later in the race. Felt good. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: Might have gone a bit too hard on the bike, but was feeling good. Felt great at the beginning, so I had to hold back a bit - powermeter helped with this. Was shooting for about 230 watts NP - haven't checked my wattage yet, but will be interested to see what I ended up at. edit: NP: 242 Avg: 213 VI: 1.13 TSS: 257 So, based on NP, I definitely went a bit harder than I should have - I should have been around 220-230 NP... but in such a hilly/variable race, the NP formula might be a bit off, and going on avg. power, I went easier than I should have... so, we'll just call it "just right" What would you do differently?: Probably could have gone a bit easier - was too easy to get caught up in passing people, etc, and pushing it on the hills. The hilly nature of the course made it hard to stick to a consistent wattage. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Run went well - definitely hurt a lot in the second half, but stuck to the walk/run plan - allowed myself one 60 second walk break per mile and no more. Post race
Warm down: walk around parking lot and down to car. SORE SORE SORE. Nauseated, couldn't eat anything for about 20 minutes until stomach calmed down. Event comments: Brad runs a fantastic race - a great combination of down-home, low key fun and professional organization. The volunteers were friendly (if a bit sparse on some sections of the bike course), and Brad's laid-back and fun-loving attitude makes for a great time. My favorite race of the season. Early arrival to transition, plenty of time for setup.
Light stretching, that's about it.
