Pre-race routine:

Forrest and I left the house at 4:45 and arrived about an hour before race time. We sat on the curb and listened to the sunrise service. I drank a Gatorade. We went to the bathroom and then stood and waited to race for half an hour.
Event warmup:

Not really any, who needs to warm up for a 4 hour run?

Comments:

It was a good run. I accomplished my main goal of finishing in under four hours.
Two Negatives--Cramping problems, and Forrest getting hurt.
I dont know if it was the heat and humidity or if I didnt drink enough the first half but the last 5 miles were a fight with my body to keep from cramping. I was drinking 5-6 cups of Powerade at each aide station for the last few miles to try to keep from cramping. It turned into me running for 5-6 minutes until I thought I was going to cramp and then I would stop and walk until it stopped (usually about 30 seconds or so)
What would you do differently?:

Drink more in the first half.
Post race
Warm down:

As soon as I crossed the finish line, I stopped and had massive cramps in both legs. I eventually walked them out. Then just walked around the venue with the parents and Jenny waiting for Forrest to hobble across.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Cramps. I would have been really close to 3:45 if I didnt have to deal with the cramp. Lessoned learned. Drink more in the first half. If you think you are drinking enough, drink some more.

Event comments:

Awesome race!! They do an awesome job.
