Run
Comments: Considering that I hadn't run for a week and a half before the race b/c of a cold and bad weather, I don't have any complaints. Started around the front third of the pack and got on the outside once I hit the timing mat in order to minimize weaving through the crowd. Felt pretty relaxed for the first mile and a half, got into a good rhythm, stayed at my own pace, and kept running along. Halfway through, I told myself just to keep going at the same speed until the fourth mile, and then I'd try to pick it up a notch. At mile 4, I tried to speed up a bit but decided instead to stay at the same pace and just start spotting people to try and catch. Had enough left to sprint the last 100 yards, and that was about enough. What would you do differently?: It was a personal record, and I beat my goal of 40 minutes, so nothing different. Post race
Warm down: Stretched a little bit, but not enough b/c I'm feeling it this afternoon. Grabbed a couple of bottles of water, had a banana, muffin, a couple of cookies, and then waited for my wife to finish. After she came in, had another muffin and half a bagel, then headed to the metro cuz it was cold outside. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough running over the last month. Event comments: With 3500 runners, they got it started on time, had enough volunteers directing us on the course, and there was plenty of food and water afterwards. Plus, a nice technical tee. Would definitely do this race again next year. Last updated: 2007-01-11 12:00 AM

Woke up at 6:45, had a banana and a clif bar, headed over to the metro with Nathalie.
Short jog, tried to stay moving to keep warm since it was close to 32F at race start time.
