  • Comments: It's a good race for an early season test. The St Patrick's Day trappings make for a little extra fun, as does the crowd of 4000 runners that shows up. But it's not so much a great target race as a solid offering for folks looking to put down a good time.

  • Comments: A great race. Lots of runners (6000 plus)but very well organized start times by estimated pace with several waves kept it managable. It was pretty cool to run right down Pennsylvania Ave.

  • Comments: This is a very nice race in the Capital Running Company portfolio of races, and it's little surprise that it gets more popular every year. Nothing about the race is super-fancy, though the downtown Washington course is pretty special. The first and last miles follow the Inaugural Parade route down Pennsylvania Ave. But everything works like a charm. And the various Irish touches are nice: bagpipers along the course, and dancers after the finish. Not to mention the sea of green runners. I would definitely do this one again. Good value for $30.

  • Comments: Well organized race. Lots of people. Enjoyed the course especially running down Pennsylvania Ave. Look forward to running in it again next year.

  • Comments: Fun early-season race. About 5,000 people and a teeny bit crowded in spots, but I didn't have much trouble passing people. Not as bad as Cherry Blossom or anything. The crowd thinned out fairly well.

  • Comments: Logistically this is a great race; excellent support, food, etc. But the course could be a lot better and they have to mark the miles a lot more effectively. I also think that with 5000 registered runners its probably a good idea to try some kind of seeding system. To be fair, however, since they shifted to an 8K they have seemed to gear this race more and more to the "fun run" end of the spectrum (hence, I suppose, the crappy course design) and that's fair enough. It's still a great kick-off event for the start of the season.

  • Comments: This race was close and fun with a great course. There were several bagpipers on the course too which was cool. The out and backs are great in DC because there was a lot to look at and people to watch. Plus it was very fun to run with Karen and Mike!

  • Comments: The race was well organized and a nice course. I will definitely want to do this race next year to improve my time. I think that another water station is needed. Since it was so cold, I didn't need as much water as I usually do......but on warmer days it is probably necessary.

  • Comments: With 3500 runners, they got it started on time, had enough volunteers directing us on the course, and there was plenty of food and water afterwards. Plus, a nice technical tee. Would definitely do this race again next year.

  • Comments: Didn't like the course. Too many 180 degree turns made it hard to get into a sustained rhythm. On the race site it says the reason the 10K was downgraded was because a hotel didn't want the streets in front closed and DC govt. is going along with it. They should pack it up next year and move out to Haines point along with Jingle all the Way, Veterans Day, etc. If private business interests are deciding what kinds of events are allowed to be run in the city, then you need to go where there aren't any. No obvious seeding signs, and no apparent mile markers; if they were there they must have been microscopic. No one I talked to saw either seeding signs or mile markers. Pretty happy with my performance overall, but didn't enjoy the event as much as last year, mainly because of the course.

  • Comments: The predicted crush at bag check never materialized, so no problems there. Overall, well organized, I liked the course, there were PLENTY of course marshalls and the turnarounds were very well marked. (I'll admit I had visions of missing a turnaround and ending up in Anacostia...) I'm conflicted on the location of the water station...they put it in the best place they could on the course, and it was definitely nice to realize we're right at mile 3, but I was really ready for it...
