Comments: No swim this year. They lost the buoys due to the high winds and wouldn't let anyone swim because the water was too choppy. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: Good ride. I think I set a PR. I'll find out when the results are posted. Calves cramped at about mile 3. Then cramped again about mile 9. This is twice in two races. Need to figure out why and fix it. What would you do differently?: Hit the hills harder. Need more hill training. Hydrate differently so my calves don't cramp. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Had to walk initially. The first hill was a doosy. After first mile, started to feel really good. Still felt sore from my earlier cramps, but they worked out. What would you do differently?: Prepare for the hills better. Need to include some hill and speed training to get my pace up. Post race
Warm down: Orange slices and water. Lots of walking. What limited your ability to perform faster: Possibly hydration. The cold three weeks ago affected my training, and I don't feel like I fully recovered. Event comments: Not much at the post race. They had the massage table, and some hamburgers. No vendor tents. Had a peanut butter smoothie for breakfast. Ate Power Gel and drank Gatorade 15 minutes prior. Did some light streching. Ran up and down hill to get blood flowing.
