Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 530am, had an english muffin, a banana, and some water. Got dressed and headed downstairs to the lobby. Stayed at the Inn at the Ballpark, so the start line was just outside!
Event warmup:

Jogged around a bit in the corral, stretched, and left the rest of the warmup to be done during the first mile of the race.

Comments:

Given my rather nonexistant training schedule recently (one 20 miler two weeks ago, peak mileage 28mi), I'm really happy with time. Left knee started hurting at mile 9 (from running barefoot in the 30K last month), but got numb within the next 10 miles. Never really got tired (i.e. breathing hard) per se, just more and more sore all over, until near the end my ankles started getting wobbly and I was afraid I might fall over.
What would you do differently?:

Ummmmm, train properly!
Post race
Warm down:

Hobble through the convention center, try to eat some eggs and a Pepsi.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My (lack of) training!

Event comments:

I ran with this one woman for a couple of miles who was pretty nice. She said that she had qualified for Boston last month running the White Rock in Dallas, and admitted to me that she was running the Houston wearing a friend's bib since her friend had gotten sick. However, she said that she'd probably make the qualifying time her friend needed to qualify for Boston and her friend might run it as well.

At the time I didn't think much of it, but it struck as highly dishonest for her friend to possibly run Boston in this manner as she never really qualified for it. Personally, I think you're just cheating yourself by saying you got to run in Boston but you never really qualified.

What do you all think? I know this woman's name, do you think I should turn her in?
