Pre-race routine:

We arrived at the host hotel location on Saturday for the pasta party and a little BT get-together. It was nice to put faces with avatars and screen names. We also went out and walked as much of the swim course as we could. It looked terribly long from my perspective. Then, a reasonably decent night's sleep, a 5:45 wake up and the migration to the transition area.
Event warmup:

light jog w/some sprints thrown in.
Swim
  • 49m 27s
  • 1500 meters
  • 03m 18s / 100 meters
Comments:

I'm slow, people. But, I accomplished my goals which were to finish in under an hour and not to use a kayak for support. My navigation could have been better as I veered off course from time to time. Also, heading back into the wind and chop made me a little seasick and disoriented, but overall, I was pleased with my swim.
What would you do differently?:

Just keep training for more stamina and speed.
Transition 1
  • 05m 40s
Comments:

I love wetsuit strippers. That really helped. I was a bit dizzy upon exiting the water and those folks were great. Granted, I was near the end and they were bored, just waiting for someone else to come in, but maybe that's to my advantage. I also took a few extra minutes in T1 to get my bearings and hydrate a bit. I didn't really care to speed through this one.
What would you do differently?:

It all depends on the swim, if I'm disoriented, I'll continue to take it slowly, if I'm not, then I'll move more quickly.
Bike
  • 1h 05m 37s
  • 22 miles
  • 20.12 mile/hr
Comments:

Like I said, the wind sucked, but still, I managed to make up some time, especially on the second loop after I knew where the course went.
What would you do differently?:

nothing except for drive/ride the course prior to the event. I love the ride portion of a tri.
Transition 2
  • 02m 35s
Comments:

nice, normal transition. I'm not out to set speed records here.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Run
  • 51m 32s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 08m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

Did I mention it was windy? Still, I was able to make up more time. I felt strong throughout the run and attempted to keep my pace right near 8:30. Only near the end did my legs begin to fatigue.
What would you do differently?:

keep on running. With solid runs and bikes, I can overcome my lack of speed in the water.
Post race
Warm down:

water, gatorade, cheering on other BTers, bananas, oranges, bagels, more gatorade, etc.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

my swimming.

Event comments:

I had a lot of fun. For our anniversary, to both complete the oly distance within seconds of each other was special.

Garmin says 20.39 mi in 1:05:19 (avg. speed 18.7 mph). I like their numbers better. HR was in the high 150s to low 160s.
Wind: Strong
Course: 2 loop course approximately 11 miles, each. Wind was great when at your back, hell when not. Gotta give props to the cops. They controlled major intersections (and there were many) well. We had smooth sailing through every red light and no car trouble. The streets were concrete (for the most part) and major cracks or holes had been marked in red.
