  • Comments: This was a great race and a lot of fun. They announced I came in 2nd in my age group at the awards ceremony but online it's showing I came in 3rd. Other than having to wait around over an hour for the awards, this was a very well organized, fast and great local Dallas race. I'll be back! I need to earn the 2nd place trophy they gave me :)

  • Comments: I am spoiled by the Jack and Adams and High Five events, but the playtri event did good. There were a few incidents, not that happened to me but that I saw happen or heard about afterwards that scares me. A few people cutting the bike short, 1 auto + bike accident, a few bike + bike issues and a wipe out. Then with the 2 loops of the run on the Olympic vs 1 on the sprint some of the people were confused, I saw at least 1 sprinter go for the second lap and no one stopped them and I heard of multiple Olympic distance people only did one lap. Reports from people with 910xt's saying that the swim was 1375 not 1500 and the run was half a mile short. The distance issues could be due to a new course layout, but I would hope they will be fixed by next year.

  • Comments: Overall it was a good race. I like the location being close to home an in an urban area. The roads are pretty good which is nice. A bit disappointed the run course was so short. Very odd. My other complaint would be that they didn't have a selection of food for the racers after the race. The only free food was BBQ sandwiches, which is great if you eat meat. I do not. I could have bought something from a vendor, but I didn't bring any money. Who knows, maybe there was food I could have eaten and I missed it because I was standing around cheering for people I knew still racing. Oh well, I'd still do the race again!

  • Comments: I like the larger events in more urban settings like this race. Good sized crowd. Water station on the back of the course was undermanned, I passed three times because they only had two people handing out water on each side of the road and they were back at table getting cups as I was running by. Playtri does a nice awards ceremony at the end I wish the other local race organizations would try to duplicate.

  • Comments: There was post race pizza and fruit. I miss back before the recession when post race was better. I have a sweet tooth and was hoping for cookies or something.

  • Comments: Overall, a very well-organized event with plenty of volunteers. My biggest complaint: packet pickup on the day before the race ended at 4pm, so I paid $10 extra to have race-day pickup. Not very accommodating for out-of-town racers. Post-race and race goodies were just okay, definitely not the best I've had. This surprised me as I thought an organization as big as Playtri would have been swag and bigger/better post-race festivities.

  • Comments: Needed more water stations on the run. They only had two, and they were crowded, and with the temperature that high they could have used one more.

  • Comments: Kind of a bittersweet taste in my mouth, because I was shooting for a 2:30'00" race and I really put everything out to do it. Even though I PR'd, I didn't feel the "great race" feeling that I enjoy so much.

  • Comments: I have read many report that mentioned lack of volunteers, disorganization, etc... I really didn't experience any of that. Yes, I did think that it was funny that they were calling out for anyone who wanted to be a wetsuit stripper, but by the time I came through, there were some. I think the police officers did a good job of monitoring the roads. The cones and the car/rider signs were a little confusing, but everything worked out fine.

  • Comments: They do a nice job with the overall atmosphere and the communication system was far superior to last year's. I had debated not doing it, but since the money was spent, figured might as well. Glad I did. Despite the tough swim and sore shoulders, I had a good time.

  • Comments: It's my first race - so all I have to compare to is what I've dreamt up :) I enjoyed the race and thought it was a great 1st experience. If anything, I was hoping for more post-race activities.

  • Comments: I will not do another PlayTri race. i'm sure they are great people, but the last PlayTri race I did the lack of volunteers sent several runners (my hubby included) off course for over a mile. I think having weak volunteer turnout is the biggest failure w/this race.

  • Comments: I have heard some comments about people not feeling like the race was organized, but I thought it was a good race overall. It would have been nice not to have to wait in such a long food line, but nice that the hamburgers were hot and just coming off the grill. While I was checking out the results, a man came up to me to tell me that I made his heart jump a couple of times when he saw me on the course. He said that my smile, braids in my hair and visor all looked like one of his swim clients. He said that he had coached a woman who had died last year and that I reminded him of her. We talked for a couple of minutes and the woman was Dorothy from the Dallas area who died at IMFL in the fall. He told me about how her husband was doing IMAZ that day in memory of her. One other comment I had was that there were times while I was on the bike and run course that I was asking myself "Why in the world are you doing triathlons as you are so much slower than most people and don't seem to be making

  • Comments: Well I get my phone and have 3 messages from my wife. I can't really read them because of the sun but see race and emergency so I call her. Well aparently when they got there they went to cross the street. Looked and saw bikes coming so my son stepped out, they did not realize there was bikes coming the other way (HIM leaders I think). One of them clips my son, knocks him down but the rider stayed up. My wife/son freak and the EMT's come and say they think he probably has a broken leg. They ask her if they should go find me but she says no and take my son to the hospital for X-rays. Well I grab my bike and head to leave transition not caring at this moment about awards. The guy at the exit says no leaving yet but I interupt and say what is going on and he sees my number and says to go. I think he was informed I would be there. I rush to the hospital but luckily no broken bone and he was running around like crazy this afternoon. Here is what sucks, my wife was not paying

  • Comments: The spectator crowd control was awful. There were tons of people in the way around the finish line and by transition. It was pretty ridiculous. My parents said they saw some kid get his leg broken cause he ran out on the course in front of a cyclist. The traffic control was great on the bike. The buoys were big and well spaced. Very easy to see. I had a lot of fun seeing how far I could push myself. I think I did awesome considering that this was my first open water swim, and the longest race I have ever done. I was hoping to finish in 3:30, and really out did that goal! First Olympic race complete!!!! Next stop, Ironman 70.3...

  • Comments: There were several events all going on today. The organization was lacking and the number of volunteers was low. It wasn't horrible, but there was room for improvement. It seemed to be lacking excitement. The lighting in the pre-dawn hours was horrible. Bringing a clip on light for my visor next time might be a good idea!

  • Comments: The one area in need of improvement would be the post race food. They didn't have anything except for bananas, oranges, bagels, and some pretzels. That's fine for a short race, but my husband and all of the others doing the HIM should definitely had more to refuel with than that! I really enjoyed meeting and talking with all of the BTers that I just knew online. It really makes the race atmosphere fun when you can cheer on others with a group. It was nice getting to know each of you and look forward to seeing you at other events! :)
