Comments: I have NO idea how I did this! This was a "C" race, so the plan was to go hard for as long as I could, then finish the race at a moderate pace - I just never hit that point somehow! At the first couple of mile markers, I figured the markers were off. Then when my times started going down, I figured they couldn't all be off. At mile 5, I realized I was going to finish the race and possibly PR - it was a cool feeling, since this wasn't planned at all! I was still chatting with people around me, although very short phrases! :) Kirk, Dad, and I ran together for the first 3-4 miles, then we just happened to split up. Kirk went ahead and about .5 miles or so later, I lost my dad (he also PRd today - just a minute or so behind me). Watch time (since it took a while to cross the start line where we were) was 55:03. What would you do differently?: Nothing - this race surpassed ALL my expectations! ![]() Post race
Warm down: Got my HR back under control, grabbed a Vitamin water, and started walking back along the course. After a few minutes, we started running again (although slowly). We took a couple of walk breaks along the way, but finished strong. This was exactly what I needed to help my confidence before ING 1/2. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing - maybe I shouldn't have a time goal for any of my races - it worked well! :) Event comments: I love this race, it's such a great course! I actually got two Tshirts - one yellow and one blue. I got the last yellow small and then they brought out a huge stack of blue. I was walking back by there and trying to decide if I should switch for the blue, but they just told me to take one of each. Very cool! :) Oh - and who can forget Krispy Kreme donuts at the end - mmmmmmm.... :) Last updated: 2007-02-07 12:00 AM

Had sushi last night and went to bed to have 7 1/2 hours of sleep. Woke up, had full breakfast (2 waffles w/ PB & Honey) and green tea. Sipped a little water, but probably not enough.
Got to the race around 7:10AM - parked one car at the Floyd Depot and carpooled with Dad to Floyd Middle. Picked up race number, stretched, talked to people, and went off! :)
None.
