Run
Comments: This is definitely my fastest official run to date. I was hoping for 18 so everything went great! Last year: 19:57 a 2:06 improvement! What would you do differently?: Not a thing. Transition 1
Comments: This T area was huge with nearly 800 competitors. I jogged the whole way and only spent about 10 seconds to get my bike. Last year (smaller T area): 3:17 a 1:19 improvement! What would you do differently?: Nothing. I wasn't going to sprint, which was my only option for a faster T1 and I didn't really see the ROI for doing that. Bike
Comments: A super ride. I did well on the hills but didn't push it, to save a little. I am a better descender now, so I made up time (leapfrogging with the same group) overall. Last year: 1:16:55 a 4:32 improvement. Frankly, I thought I did great last year and wasn't looking to improve here. I was actually worried I would do worse, having focused less on biking this summer. I was thrilled! What would you do differently?: NOTHING Transition 2
Comments: Another fast T time, considering the size of the area. I was very shaky off the bike as expected. Last year: 2:55 a 0:59 improvement! What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: I was starting to get warmer and my only goal was to keep running. Other than a quick slow down at the water stop, I did that. I was passed like crazy and wondered why these women had so much energy left! I held off Nora until the last mile when she finally caught and passed me. She was in the wave 3 min behind me to start and was looking awesome - she did great. Last year: 21:56 a 2:30 improvement! What would you do differently?: Keep working on the bricks and overall improved fitness would never hurt. Post race
Event comments: This if a first class operation, night and day compared to some of our usual local events (Randy Fulton). I met all of my goals and frankly far exceeded my own expectations, so I am extremely happy with myself today :) The best part was a checked my bike computer for my top speed, because my husband is obsessed with this one hill and wondered how I did. Well, I guess I was going pretty fast because it read 66 MPH!!! That has to be a record. Last updated: 2007-02-09 12:00 AM

Had my usual breakfast and got dropped off at T area, which was great. If I had driven, I would have had to use a ramp a ways away and struggle with the bike, etc. I took my bike shoes out of the bag and put my pre-race gel in pocket and was ready to go. I love duathlons! So easy. I laughed a bit at the girls fussing with their areas and having all kind of stuff laid out, knowing that was me last year. Talked with Nora, took some pictures and just waited.
The race started about 20 minute late, so I just tried to keep moving while standing in the chute. Glad I didn't bother to warm up!
