![]() Run
Comments: I was running this race with my 14 year old son,Phillip. We spent the first .50 miles dodging other runners and then settled down and I was able to regroup with Phillip. My prerace plan was to set a 9 minute pace and hold it as long as possible. We started out a little faster than that and then settled into the 9 minute pace for mile 3-4. Started to lag the last 2 miles but managed to kick it the last .2 to finish just under 9 min/mile average. Phillip stayed with me until the last mile when I was starting to tail off so I told him to go for it. He ended up crossing the line 20 seconds ahead of me. His time was exactly what he ran at the Run the Reagan race 3 weeks ago. What would you do differently?: I have not trained my running much lately due to plantar fasciitis injury so I guess I need to train more. This was a PR for me by about 1.5 minutes so I am pleased with the run. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Had a sports drink and walked up to pick up the shuttle bus back to the start. I was in shorts and sleeveless shirt that got real cold now that I was not running. The wait for transportation back was long but I kind of expected that. After the bus ride We got our shirts and celebrated with a couple of Krispy Kreme donuts. What limited your ability to perform faster: Weight, Genetics, Lack of recent run training. Event comments: Phillip and I had a good time. I would do this race again.
