Pre-race routine:

My major "training" is walking my dog for about 80 minutes every morning on the trails near our house. The trails are pretty hilly so I get a decent workout and my dog never lets me take a day off.

I'm a strong but slow swimmer. I didn't learn to do the crawl until I was almost 40 and I always seem to be out of breath so I swim one length crawl and then one length breast stroke or side stroke. I try to breathe every 3 strokes.

I had fun! Everyone else thought the bikes weren't calculating correctly but I had my new iPod (a Christmas gift from my husband) going and I enjoyed myself!

I felt really good about the run as I don't run much (spend 1hr 20min. each morning walking my dog and a friend's dog on the trails near our home. The trails are up and down a lot and sometimes I run a bit but it's hard to run when it is 3 degrees and I am wearing 2 prs. of long johns, wind pants, 2 long john tops + a wool parka, 2 hats, 2 pr gloves, 2 pr socks etc. So it felt great to run in just my tri suit, shoes and socks! I haven't run that far in probably 20 years!

My daughter, Autumn, is my inspiration and cheerleader. I wouldn't be doing this without her! So hurrah for Autumn! And thanks to all the BT people in our wave who were so nice to me! I really felt welcomed and MUCH more comfortable!
