Total Time = 1h 16m 14s
Overall Rank = 54/238
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 8/20
Pre-race routine:

Got there early. Ate egg beaters, dry wheat toast and blueberry pancake about 4 hours before race. Ate Cliff Bar 1-1/2hours before race. Swam a little. Drove bike course.
Event warmup:

Stand in line and wait my turn.
Swim
  • 08m 25s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 55s / 100 yards
Comments:

I was number 160, based on swim times. As usual some people were mistaken about their swim times. A little congested as far as passing, but I think most people got held up a little. Lost my nose plug prior to race, good thing I've trained without it. I just swallow a little more air without it.
What would you do differently?:

Not too much, this was a good swim for me, probably my best yet.
Transition 1
  • 01m 14s
Comments:

Not blazing fast, but for the first race of the year, not bad...I didn't forget anything. Had a little trouble getting on bike and getting going.
What would you do differently?:

Need to practice with new shoes.
Bike
  • 38m 36s
  • 13.4 miles
  • 20.83 mile/hr
Comments:

The course was nice. The volunteers handled traffic very well. Pretty flat 1 decent hill against wind on the backside of the loop, so you do it twice.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe go a little harder, but it was a good ride.
Transition 2
  • 01m 26s
Comments:

Wasted a little time here messing with watch.
What would you do differently?:

These will be better when I get tri jersey, as I won't be changing shirts in transition.
Run
  • 26m 33s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run for me. First mile maybe too fast at about 7:45. Water on course was cold and took my breath away when I dumped it on my head.
What would you do differently?:

More bricks, but it's early in the season.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched, drank water, ate subway, bananas, and cookies. My favorite part of race :).

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Only second year of tri's. Swimming and running is getting better, but still just average. I'd love to see what I could do with a real tri bike (I have an older Cannondale roadie with aerobars), but I know it will be some time before I can afford one of those.

Event comments:

Good race and facilities. Great first race of season. Some really fast people here.
