Swim
Comments: We were supposed to seed ourselves based on an estimated time. Not having been swimming since October and had no idea. I just took a guess...Three more people back would have been perfect. Found out that I kick off the wall way, way better than most. Each time I let someone pass me, I'd catch up (and bumpt into) them on my kickoff/butterfly. Transition 1
Comments: Skipped socks for the bike. Long run to the mats. Bike
Comments: Now I know why they call it ZephyrHILLS. Made a wrong turn for no reason at all. Several folks passed me....on mountain bikes. ARGH! Also, not thrilled to ride with traffic...and some spots had NO bike lanes! What would you do differently?: Pay closer attention to the bikers ahead. Lost a few min on the wrong turn. Transition 2
Comments: They let us ride our bikes all the way to the transition area! Yeah! My bike did pretty good on the grass. My major task in T2 was to find a place to blow my nose! I also stopped to give hubbie a kiss. I think the thing that took the longest was trying to adjust my right sock. I put it on twice and it was still all twisted. What would you do differently?: Um....not take a nap or something? Run
Comments: I'm pleased with the run. My most recent best 5K time has been about 50 min, so 3 minutes longer after an hour's worth of exercize isn't too shabby! I chose to walk up the steep uphills and some of the smaller uphills, but I ran more than half of the 5k. Probably the most I've run in any triathlon yet...though my time was much slower than 2005. Post race
Warm down: I was sure I got second in the Athena group, but they only announced the first place. Unfortunately, they were reading the awards off an older sheet than what was posted. It was no big deal for me, but I felt really bad for a guy who was listed as third, but the award sheet had him in the wrong group. what a mess! Met Greg Lewis. What an amazing guy...He took first place in his age group and has total kidney failure. How awesome that he can fit in workouts between life, dialysis, etc. Event comments: Very well organized despite the lack of information prior to the race. Plenty of volunteers who were AWESOME! Not sure I liked all the hills or the traffic route, so I don't think I'd do this one again. It was pretty AWESOME that they waited for all the racers to finish pior to giving awards. Race shirt had a good design too. I was really suprised at how many super-fast folks there were. Not at all the novice race I thought it would be. Last updated: 2007-02-24 12:00 AM

Woke up an hour late...didn't think I'd make it to the race. Missed the road to the Y and went a few miles out of the way. Ooops! Once I got there, I had time to spare though.
