Pre-race routine:

Drank and Up & Go in the car on the way, after picking up a friend...

Was at a wedding last night, so tried hard just to stay awake thismorning (4hr sleep)
Event warmup:

Milled around talking to friends, team members etc etc
Swim
  • 04m 30s
  • 250 meters
  • 01m 48s / 100 meters
Comments:

Loved the swim today...(This was the first tri I did, 1 year ago, I struggled through the swim, breast stroke, back stroke resting and doggie paddle)...

This year, started at the back, got beat around a bit, overtook lots of people, and found clear water after a minute or so...ended up coming out of the water in the lead pack (about 6 of us)...
What would you do differently?:

Nothing...don't plan on racing this distance often...
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Good transition, being in Corp male, we were prety much the first wave off so, coming out of the swim in the lead group meant that transition was earily empty...lots of bikes but not a sole around.
Bike
  • 00m
  • 10 kms
  • 0.00 km/hr
Comments:

Nice clear road for most of the ride...got slowed down a bit on the last of three laps when other waves started hitting the course. Just hammerred the bike really, averaged about 40km/h for the first 2 laps, then had to slow down just to stay safe.

Borrowed some race wheels last week, and still had them on the bike today so din't want to start overtaking some of the more inexperienced riders.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Good transition, transition was chaos this time...swimmiers from other waves, bikes going everywhere...but got out ok...
Run
  • 00m
  • 2.5 kms
  •  min/km
Comments:

Enjoyed the run, kept a fairly good pace, got passed by a couple of runners, but was still up in the lead group. Pacing was very consistant but probably a little too easy.

Finnished and there were only about 10-15 people already done (that was from my wave and the first wave, so must have been in top 5 or so from corp male)...doesnt say much but it felt good.
Post race
Warm down:

Same as warm up, just milled around chatting.

Event comments:

Last years time was 43 minutes, this year 38...quite pleased with that, couldn't hope to take much more time off than that over such a short race.

This was a good social event, all types out there trying which is good to see...I have been dragging a mate to swimming, on rides etc etc for the last 6 months, he did this as his first tri and had a ball...so it was a good day.
