Run
Comments: I was holding back well for the first 12 miles. Then I hit the wind and it just sapped my energy. It was pretty isolated between the pace groups by this point, and I just couldn't find enough good candidates to draft behind. I still felt pretty decent up through 19 miles or so, but by then the wind effect had caught up with me and I had little left for the last 10K with the wind. What would you do differently?: I could have improved a little by holding back even more at the start and staying with the 3:20 pace group (which finished faster than they should have, well ahead of me!). A 3:15 pace group would have helped a lot. Post race
Warm down: None. Should have stretched. Despite this recovered better than first 2 marathons (not having to walk down steps backwards, not in too much pain to sleep). Got a massage the next day. What limited your ability to perform faster: Out of gas at end of race. I did hold back at the beginning compared to New York, but then the wind in the middle undid me. Event comments: Great course, expo, organization etc. I didn't mind the cool temperature. Subtracting the wind and adding a 3:15 pace group would have made it ideal. Last updated: 2007-03-13 12:00 AM
