Total Time = 7h 00m
Overall Rank = 668/1303
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 58/106
Pre-race routine:

After 3 hours of sleep in the hotel (nerves), I had a bagel with peanut butter and about 10 oz of water
Event warmup:

No warmup at all. It was friggin freezing, my toes were numb by the time I got into the water (water was nice and warm, actually)
Swim
  • 13m 23s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 41s / 100 meters
Comments:

Water was not so choppy, but there were slow waves which was a new challenge for me. My arms were actually tired halfway into the swim, which I wasn't expecting. Plus there felt like a current pushing towards the shore so I felt like I wasn't even moving for the swim out to the buoy. The breast stroke was doing nothing for me, so I did a lot of backstroke. I got into an OK freestyle rhythm for the last 100M or so. There was definitely a lot of kicking and bumping but I got lucky in that I didnt really get kicked (or at least didnt feel it)
What would you do differently?:

More OWS experience. This was my first time in the ocean for an OWS and the waves are definintely tiring!!
Transition 1
  • 05m 31s
Comments:

I planned this out to make sure I was sitting when I got my shoes on, helmet, and gloves. I didnt want to be bending over which sometimes gets me dizzy. One pulse check had my pulse at 145 during T1. Not bad. Took a gel before going to ride.
What would you do differently?:

Go faster!! I struggled with my socks.... that could be practiced I think.
Bike
  • 35m 30s
  • 11 miles
  • 18.59 mile/hr
Comments:

That was a good ride for me. I learned at Philly to take it down a notch on exertion to save my legs for the run. I made sure I drank about half of my water bottle.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Transition 2
  • 02m 9s
Comments:

This was longer than I had thought it was. It felt really fast. What took the longest was getting to my rack to get to work.
What would you do differently?:

run faster in T area??
Run
  • 34m 59s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 11m 17s  min/mile
Comments:

I actually felt ok starting out on the run- I think I saved just enough of my legs from the bike part!! I hit a comfortable pace and just said 'OK I could do this pace all day - all I need to do is put in my time (~35 mins) and I'll be done!'. The best part of this run was the ladies giving support to each other. It was really inspiring. And entertaining- which kept my mind off of running.
What would you do differently?:

I was pleased with this run. TOOK 1:45 my PR!!! Those 8lbs I lost REALLY made a difference compared to other runs.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and stretched a little. As I was walking back to the T area, my left foot/ankle started to hurt. I dont remember tweaking it during the race....

What limited your ability to perform faster:

fitness level, body weight

Event comments:

This was a great first tri for me. Sally Edwards is such a motivating speaker and she high-fived everyone out of the water and then at the finish line. I loved the amount of support ladies gave each other. I want to do this race again.
Oh, and it was really cool meeting the Mosc crew!! I am sorry I didnt get to meet up wth the other ladies!! Go BT!
