Swim
Comments: Craptastic start. Didn't get into a rythym until almost the half way point. What would you do differently?: More mental focus on the beach. Today once again confirmed how important mental prep is for racing. This was a B race and so I didn't worry too much about getting my game face on. Lesson learned here is that in a B race, even though it is not full effort it does not mean that the mental aspect should be neglected. My siting was great the whole swim, so that was a positive compared to the other two races this year. Sited every 8th stroke the whoe swim. Transition 1
Comments: 4th in my ag. Relatively long transition runs in this event. Transition practice last week paid off again. Bike
Comments: Solid bike. Did well managing traffic on the busy bike course. Was a bit aggressive on cornering and it pays off on this course which rewards solid bike handling. Full aero bottle of Perpetuem. One Hammer Gel on the fourth lap. Chocolate tasted great! Washed down with water. What would you do differently?: Not much! Transition 2
Comments: Saw FirstNet911 cheering on the way in, WTF??? He had two flats before even getting into the Road America loops so DNF'd it. Bummer! What would you do differently?: Put socks on! After last weekends success going sockless in a sprint I decided to do it again here for the Oly. Around four miles into the run knew this was a baaaad idea... Have a couple very raw spots on the feet. Run
Comments: Took it easy to keep the HR down. Didn't want to blow out today as tomorrow has a long bike ride on the schedule, and Horribly Hilly next week. So, focused on form and feeling how positioning my body can lower RPE. Gotta wonder if this race had been a priority how much faster I could have been. Had some stomach cramping around mile one and again after taking a Hammer gel at 30 minutes. Worked through both okay. What would you do differently?: Nada. Post race
Warm down: Walked around. Recoverite, gatorade, water, 1/2 banana. Cheer in the rest of the Donkeys. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not an A race. Event comments: Run course did not have any mile markers and volunteers did not know how far onto the course they were. Elkhart Lake is great for the swim and the Osthoff is a beautiful resort. Great seeing everyone and meeting some new BT'ers. Donkeys definately had critical mass at this event. Congrats to TriDDS for the Clyde victory! Overall, very fun race. Fun to put faces with screen names from BT. Last updated: 2007-03-20 12:00 AM

Stayed at TriDDS place a few blocks from Transition. Up at 5:30, Ensure, half bagel with pb. Small cup of coffee. Pumped up tires, rode the bike over to set up transition area.
Didn't do much for this one. Snuck into the water away from the start so I cold at least get the wet suit wet.
