Pre-race routine:

Drove up there the night before. Up by 6am. Spent most of my time getting putting all the stuff back into the car. Ate 1/2 waffle, a kashi bar and milk. Rushed to race site.Met with bf's relay teammates. Also met with some MN BT'er. :) :) :)
Event warmup:

Swam in the water for as long as I could to get used to the water temp.
Swim
  • 08m 56s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 02s / 100 yards
Comments:

Mad-dashed into the water with the typical triathlete exaggerated arm movement. I was doing breast stroke 1/2 the time to navigate through the crowd and to calm myself down.

Arrived at T1 after running 100 yd in 2:02. Saw MNDIVER at T area. :) Almost fall on my bum at the communal foot rinse! Rushed out of T2 without drinking! ARGH!

Comments:

Hilly like last time. I was down to 5 mph on a couple of uphill. :( Stopped 3x to drink. Saw a 1/2 decomposd roadkill (a dog) on the grass. Funny it didn't smell at all. What smelled bad was the freshly dispersed cow manure on the fields! I biked extra hard to get away from it. Saw Chris Legh running on my way back to T2!

EDIT: The incline at the bike exit was so steep, that I actually got off my bike and WALKED out. Hahahahahahaha.. I will do ANYTHING to get ahead.

Comments:

Not a whole lot to do cus I was biking with running shoes. I didn't bother to carry a water bottle with me for the run. Saw MNDIVER again!!
Run
  • 37m
  • 3 miles
  • 12m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

Decided to do the "run 5 minutes walk 1 minute" strategy to make my legs feel used to the pounding. Gradually moved onto longer run interval. Saw Chris Legh again! Saw KELPENG! Then the rain started to fall. It was quite romantic. :)

Great race! Ample parking, working toilets, smiling faces and giant rubber duckies! What's not to like?
