Comments: In the first 1/4 mile, I thought this just didn't feel right....but just kept on...by the first bouy I was in my slow groove What would you do differently?: Get to the water sooner for a good warmup Transition 1
Comments: I was at the back of the transition and had a long run to the start line. What would you do differently?: Put my shoes on my bike. The instructions said you had to have shoes in your bag. I saw a few shoes on bikes and all the pros had shoes on thier bikes. I opted to follow the rules....if that really was a rule. Bike
Comments: I guess I really need to bone up on the bike. Every race I do, I seem to be farther back in the overall bike ranking than I think I should be. Guess I have to train to go faster What would you do differently?: Ride a little harder Transition 2
Comments: This transition went pretty well. What would you do differently?: Take my fuel belt with me....opted not to and spent to much time at aid stations. Run
Comments: Muscle pain hit me around lap two, but I don't think it slowed me down. I was just worried, I thought I might start cramping. What would you do differently?: Not spend time at each aid station, wear fuel belt and just grab a water to cool off. Post race
Warm down: I walked down to the lake for a long soak. I was thinking I never want to do another HIM. This was my first. Now several days later....I am ready to go again. Wake up at 4:45, drink Boost and eat yogurt.
Lots of stretching. Got to the water after the early waves started so the warm up swim was just a wade to the waist.
