Comments: Holy Crap! Nasty waves made the swim really tough. I understand that 15 people were picked up by boats. Into the waves I would breathe every other stroke. With the waves I was able to go back to every three strokes. Transition 1
Comments: Good transition Bike
Comments: Stated distance was not accurate and was longer. I adjusted to the measured distance (per mapmytri.com). Maybe I could have pushed a bit more, but probably not. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Very Happy! I was passed by quite a few runners, but I held my pace. Quads really cramped up. Race distance was again a tad longer than stated. (6.4 miles per mapmytri.com and another racer's GPS and accelerometer.) Adjusted! I ran this 10K+ almost as fast as last week's 5K in Nevis. What would you do differently?: I need to analyze and modify my training for next year. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: My goal was a sub 2:30:00 which I achieved. I really hoped for a sub 1:25:00 which I almost achieved and probably would have if the course distances were not longer than stated. This is the race I trained for and I am very happy with how I did. Event comments: I was scared for my safety when I drove the bike course. Three stoplights through town and several left turns. My fear was for naught. They closed the course in town and blocked traffic. The bike course was well managed and traffic was very well directed. Last updated: 2007-04-09 12:00 AM
