Swim
Comments: Disaster right from the start. Although I have to say that the water was lovely and mild! We were all fantastic swimmers......except for me. I just couldn't get my stroke right, nor my breathing. I did the breastroke for most of it. My goggles kept leaking, I was worried I would lose a contact lens! Towards the end I saw one girl from the next one trying to pass me. I decided that no, bugger this, she's not going to so I speed up and beat her out the swim. That made me feel better. What would you do differently?: Just tell myself I know I can do better. This is my best event and I should be in at least the top 10 if I say so myself. I wasn't in a swim team all those years fer nuttin'! Transition 1
Comments: Sluggish, head spun, stomach churned. What would you do differently?: Probably force something down and take a couple of painkillers before the race. Bike
Comments: The course itself was great, this is my training territory but trying to up onto the express lanes was a nightmare. Most of us were walking because it was so wet and the "angels" kept yelling "safety 1st! safety 1st!!!" But people obviously wanting a good time didn't care and I was almost pushed down the bloody ledge! Sheesh. Once we hit the tunnels the noise was deafening, not from the traffic on either side but from the women all screaming and whooping. It certainly brought a smile to my face. On the other side nof the tunnel the rain came down like there was no tomorrow. I saw a couple of crashes I(safety 1st man!!!!) but they were already being attended to so off I went. I dashed the last mile and passed tons of people. I felt happier at this point. What would you do differently?: Speed up on those long but small hills. Transition 2
Comments: I felt a little better once I got the bike. My stomach didn't hurt anymore either, my legs felt great and I took off!!! Run
Comments: I ran the whole course!!! I was moving very slowly but I ran the whole course!!!!! I got so many comments and spells tossed at me because of my Harry Potter shirt. I think I may have to wear this at all the tri's I do in the future. I met loads of women on the run, such a brilliant atmosphere! I bolted the last half mile with the announcer yelling my name as I crossed the finished line. FANTASTIC! What would you do differently?: Learn to pick up speed a little. Post race
Warm down: Warm down? It was RANINING!!! As soon as I stopped running I started freezing. My husband didn't stick around unfortunately What limited your ability to perform faster: Cramps. I suffer from endometriosis and it really does affect me badly. I'm still impressed with my time considering how I was feeling. Event comments: God bless all those volunteers who stood out in the rain handing out sports beans and water! I can't thank them enough!!!! I cannot wait to sign up for this again next year. I did not want to do this. I had the worse case of cramps, dizziness, sickness and headache I've ever experienced during "That time". I had a meltdown on Saturday because somehow my medication I recently got had been thrown out. I didn't eat anything either. My stomach was in knots. I honestly felt I was going to puke.
Running to my wave. I arrived late, traffic sucked so I peeled off my clothe4s, stuck my cap on and headed down to the water.
