Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 6:30AM. Left at 7:00AM, and arrived around an hour before the start. Ate the normal - 1/2 an apple and a cliff bar at 7:30AM.
Event warmup:

Slow 10-minute jog. The last running I got to do for a long time...

Great swim. I ended up vearing off to the left too much. I'm not very good at stroke sighting, but I was happy with my time.
What would you do differently?:

Done an open-water swim to practice first.

And then came the fall. I took a spill in the "mounting area" of the bike. You run your bike uphill, and then proceed to hop on. The girl in front of me was still trying to get pumping up the hill and stopped suddenly. I ran into her, and toppled over. The pedal jammed into my ankle, and I suffered a compression injury and a severe sprain. OH THE JOY! However, I got back on my bike and completed the bike leg. In the dismount area, I fell right away once I put pressure on my foot. It was over. A couple extra minutes were needed to cross into T2, so, I probably did the bike in around 45 minutes...all the while, pumping with just one ankle.

Event comments:

I probably would have liked to see more volunteers. No one was around once I got hurt. I stood for about 10 minutes trying to figure out what to do...and I was right beside T2. Also, I wouldn't start the bike on an uphill. That's just not good.
