Swim
Comments: Best and fastest open water swim. I expected to do the swim in 35 minutes and was surprised when I got out of the water and was running up the beach - looked at my watch and it said 27 minutes. Wow! I think the course was slightly short. Sound was like glass. No current and no waves. What would you do differently?: I need to continue to work on sighting and swimming straighter. If I could learn to bilaterally breathe that would help. I think if I swam a bit straighter rather than pulling to the right, my time would have been even faster. Transition 1
Comments: Overall not a bad first transition. Run up beach and into transition. Wetsuit came off very fast. I could have moved a little faster but I took a little time to wipe my face, blow my nose and take a quick drink. Given the distance from the swim exit to my rack and my rack to bike exit, I was over all pleased. Doubt I could d more than take 30-40 seconds off this time. What would you do differently?: Move faster. Bike
Comments: After training with TNT, I knew this course very well. I like this ride. I do part of this ride (the hills through Greenwich) for training. I did not drink as much as expected on the bike in part because it was not as hot and in part because I wanted to avoid the need to use the facilities which happened earlier in the season. One bottle of Heed and a couple of endurolytes did the trick fine. What would you do differently?: Not much. Get stronger so I can push harder on the ride. Transition 2
Comments: A good T2 given the distance from dismount to my spot on the rack. I moved pretty well. Again, I took a little time to down a gel and take a couple of gulps of water. What would you do differently?: If I cut out the gel and the water, I could have lowered my time by about 20 seconds. Maybe have that gel and water on the bike about a mile out. Run
Comments: Really good run for me. Fastest 10k this season. Last 3 miles I ran with a gal and she and I pushed each other. We remarked to each other that we were pushing one another. My legs, quads in particular, were a little sore near the end of the run but no cramping at the beginning or near the end like in NYC. What would you do differently?: Train harder to run faster! Post race
Warm down: Walk, stretch, bagel, water, Stella Artois! Hang out with TNT'ers. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing that more training could not solve. Event comments: What a gorgeous day for a race. Very well run with lots of volunteers. Great expo and party afterwards with a band and plenty of open space. Free beer never hurts either! Loved this race and will be back next year. I definitely left it all out there on the run! Last updated: 2007-04-24 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:15 a.m. Got a really good nights sleep. Breakfast of organic oatmeal, water, banana and a power bar. Got to Playland at ten after five. Took care of business before the lines formed. Set up transition. Body marked. Chatted with other TNT'ers. There were a lot of them. Met with my TNT chapter on the beach.
Light stretching. Checked out the swim course.
