  • Comments: First time doing the Jarden Westchester Tri. All in all it was a good way to end the season - PR'd the olympic distance. On the plus side this race has quite a few good things going for it: - nice semi-protected ocean swim - about 1/2 of the bike was beautiful smooth pavement - transition was huge... plenty of space between the racks - porta-potty lines were very short - parking was a piece of cake in Playland's parking lot - Having Rev3 do the race timing was great ... instant results on the monitors when you're done. - Decent post race food (pizza, bagels, fruit) - good swag: long sleeve athletic tee, bottle, race belt, arm warmers, beanie, bag, etc. - Bike course is stupid fast and fun On the down side: - Bike course really needs more marshalls/volunteers that know to stop cars at intersections. On several occasions the volunteers were just sitting on the curb on the side of the road while cars were passing through intersections THROUGH the field of riders. Very dangerous

  • Comments: Great race. Not a fan of the swim course, but the run and bike are great. I will probably be back next year, because one of my long term goals it to make it to Escape from Alcatraz.

  • Comments: Hats off to all the volunteers and supporters of this years race. The conditions were bad if you were racing, but even worse if you had to stand out in them for a few hours.

  • Comments: The only majorissue was the crazy long wait for results. Also, I amalmost positive I qualified for Alcatraz with a 2nd place AG finish, but no info on this is posted to the site. I would love to race alcatraz again so I can finish (had a broken foot this year and could only do the swim).

  • Comments: I thought the race was organised really well. On the bike course particularly I thought the Police and volunteers did an outstanding job. Not only did they control the traffic well, but on a couple of occasions I heard really helpful comments such as "rough section right after corner" which I find really helpful and safe. Will be back next year if I can get an entry.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: This has been my only race of the season each of the past 3 years. The course has gotten progressively harder each year which can be a good thing looking back on it, but during the race I hate it. Now that I'm out of school I think it's time to add a few more to my schedule next summer. Having spent 3 summers working for race organizers of a large triathlon, I was very impressed with how smoothly everything ran despite the logistics. The volunteers (and cops) were great, especially out on the bike course controlling traffic. I only encountered a couple not so smart drivers. I will continue to do this race and I really appreciate the reduction in price and separate registration for the 24 and under participants. The road might not be the best for the bike, but compared to Manhattan and River Road in NJ it's not bad at all.

  • Comments: This race slipped a little for me this year. When I first did this race it had a very local feel but since it has become a National Qualifier it has gotten too big and too cookie cutter. The price has gone up dramatically the past few years. Good race festivities but same as the past with a higher price tag.

  • Comments: Very happy to see that there was Gatorade Endurance on run course instead of last year's Smart Water! Nice touch to hand out re-usable water bottles to participants as they finished.

  • Comments: Great race. Bit of a slip-up at start when far orange buoy had to be re-positioned after it floated a way to the right. Well organized and very festive atmosphere.

  • Comments: What a gorgeous day for a race. Very well run with lots of volunteers. Great expo and party afterwards with a band and plenty of open space. Free beer never hurts either! Loved this race and will be back next year. I definitely left it all out there on the run!

  • Comments: My post race activities were a little different than most. Side notes: Kathleen ended up winning the 25-29 AG -you go girl (2:18!!!) Michelle also passed out on the run -we seem to have a cosmic connection during triathlons (luckily she was fine once she got to the hospital) She would have won the 19-24 AG and kept crying "i was going to go to Alcatraz" to EMS which they found quite disturbing. I would have would up 3rd in the 25-29 AG had I made it 200 more yards.

  • Comments: PENALTY!!!! I got a penalty for Abandoning Equipment. WTF is that! I have ALL my equipment. To say that I'm pissed would be like saying RedSox fans are slightly miffed they didnt make the playoffs this year. This blows. I tried to get additional information on what I exactly what I abandoned and they didnt have any details. I was suppose to do it with in 60 minutes of finishing. Thing is I left around 11:30 and my times werent posted yet on the wall. How was I to know I was assessed a penalty!!!! This race is a complete disappointment from the result to the penalty. A complete off day.

  • Comments: Overall great race, except for two problems 1)registration they screwed up where they had my packet. I live in NYC, but they had it up in Rye.They told me that theywould have would bring it down to NYC the next day, but didn't and then told me to pick it up at the expo on Sat. 2)Swim - distance not 1500m, more like 1000m. Not that big of a deal except they never told us what true distance was.
