Swim
Comments: Swam the outleg perfect, straight to the buoy. Got off course coming in and it got shallow early so I aqua jogged a little to get back on course. It was a little choppy but no big deal. Transition 1
Comments: Long run to transition but everything else was fine. Bike
Comments: Stuck on the road bike without aero bars again. That shouldn't be such a big deal as the course is so hilly but I don't focus as well without the aerobars. I pushed out real hard, 250 watts, passed 25 bikes on the way out. When I made the turnaround, I was pretty spent. Actually had a net loss of 2 bikes on the return trip. Return watts were 215 and we had headwind and more uphill on the way in also. I still was king of our group on the ride but not by much. What would you do differently?: Need to get my p3 fixed and I should also get some aerobars for the roadie. I also need to plan my power usage better. Transition 2
Comments: The bike ends down a big hill so I left my shoes on. Good transition, no issues. Run
Comments: Start up the big hill is so tough. Might as well be walking but I didn't. As slow as I was I didn't get gobbled up on the run like I usually do. Only got passed by 2 in my AG on the run. What would you do differently?: need more training. Post race
Warm down: beer What limited your ability to perform faster: training isn't where it should be. Work has gotten hard and I just gotta do some better planning. The course added 6 miles to the bike this year so comparisons are out the window. My bike was over 2 miles per hour slower and I was 20th last year vs 77 this year. I think at least 1mph was due to equipment (road vs tri bike, but my training is still lite compared to the past). Run was 38 seconds faster and overall was a similiar percentage. Gotta get serious about training again. Event comments: Fun race, lots of friends here. Also met Gina, one of my mentees and Ben a first timer from the board. Gina's daughter rocked the race. Tons of door prizes, including a bike. Well run race, started 5 minutes late but no big deal. The bike course changes made it safer and more challenging. Beer lasted till the end of the awards and food and massages were available. Only negative to me is the mandatory packet pickup the day before the race. I only live an hour away and had friends I could stay with but its still a pain for a sprint where most of the racers are 2 hours or less away. Last updated: 2007-04-27 12:00 AM

We drove over last nite due to mandatory day before packet pickup. Stayed with friends and ate a great pasta and chicken dinner.
Walked up the big hill a couple times.
