Swim
Comments: I did a poor job navigating this swim course. On the first leg I went way right than crossed over to the far left basically zig zagging all the way to the first turn. The last leg was about the same. I probably swam an additional 200 to 300 yards. Ive practiced this distance at chatfield and have done it consistently in under 32 minutes. What would you do differently?: I started on the far right assuming there would be some fast swimmers, but after the wave started, I noticed I was out in front. Next year I will start on the left side and try to take a direct route to the first turn. Next year I will try some darker goggles to try and block out some of the morning sunlight. Transition 1
Comments: I didn't relly have a sense of urgency since this was my first half ironamn Bike
Comments: I did this loop July 8th using my bike and averaged about 19mph so I wasn't expecting to do much better than that. However about a week ago, after a long ride, I had my riding partners watch my bike while I went in for some water, while I was getting some water, I noticed they all proceeded to lift my bike. Curious, I asked what they were doing. They all laughed and told me my bike was way too heavy and that I should upgrade. I laughed back and said only if all of you are chipping in. This got me thingking, so I weighed my bike, and it comes in at about 27 lbs. One of my riding partners offered to lone me his bike for the 1/2 so I took him up on it. What a difference it made!!! I started off slow trying to maintain a higher cadence just to get the blood flowing into the legs. After the first couple of miles, I felt pretty good and kicked it up a few notches, This was my best riding performance ever. I went into this race expecting to average 19 mph, but outdid myself. I had a top speed of about 48 mph on the first turn off of Foothills hwy. 1st loop 1:20 2nd loop 1:22:05 What would you do differently?: need to consider a new bike Transition 2
Comments: didn't have a sun screen Run
Comments: Wow, I've never run this far!!! I'm ashamed to say, I've not really trained for the run. My long runs have consisted of only about 5 -6 miles and I've only been running about 30 - 40 miles per month. However, I didn't have to stop and only walked on the last couple of hills. The mile markers seemed to be a little off. What would you do differently?: I need to run more Post race
Warm down: I was a little overheated, so I cooled down in the lake, ahhhh What limited your ability to perform faster: the run Event comments: I loved this race. I thought it was well organized Last updated: 2007-04-30 12:00 AM
