Run
Comments: This was the first time I ran this 5K and it was interesting getting through the corral start, which took about 10 minutes to cross the Start line. Apparently some people registered as runners just so they could get in the runner's corral, which totally stinks. One of the legal secretaries ran that first mile with me and we were dodging people left and right. After the first mile I realized I wasn't going to be able to keep up with her faster pace so I was glad when one of the other co-workers sprinted by me and I yelled to Sandy to stay with her. This way I was able to keep my pace and finish. It was a slow and steady pace, but it was MY pace. I love MY pace. It feels good. The music helps too. Running through downtown Miami is pretty cool. I had absolutely no doubt I was going to finish and finish strong. Yay me! What would you do differently?: Drink more water. Post race
Warm down: Drank water, sat down and ate something. Also drank half a gatorade. Event comments: I love this event. I get to spend some time w/ my co-workers, some of whom were nice enough to congratulate me on the weight loss and for running the course. It feels really good to be reaping the rewards of my hard work. I took some pictures which I will post as soon as I can. I look so different in the pictures. I can't believe my life. It just felt really good to be out there doing my thing and not giving a crap what anyone thought and listening to my music... I can't help but think of the ones who are no longer alive... and how easily I could've been one of them. I'm so grateful. Last updated: 2007-05-03 12:00 AM

Ate 3/4 of a tuna-fish sandwich, drank water, trail-mix; wasn't too nervous or anything. Began to get a little excited as my co-workers and I made our way from our building to the firm's hospitality tent. On the way I ran into an attorney I used to work with but who just left the firm. He was the only person I could talk to at the firm who was also a triathlete. He seemed genuinely happy to see me. What a sweetheart.
I warmed up by running the length of the corral areas. Listened to Buble and was getting super-psyched. It was super humid though... from my 10 minute warmup my legs were sweating.
