Total Time = 1h 51m 15s
Overall Rank = 737/1300
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 404/470
Pre-race routine:

early arrival-5:35am, got up at 4:30-slept bad in motel
Event warmup:

was in the last wave of swimmers-waited out in the cold air for approximately 45 minutes
Swim
  • 17m 47s
  • 581 yards
  • 03m 04s / 100 yards
What would you do differently?:

have to work hard on the swim was not ready for the chop-never swam in that before-it was a lot harder only the 4th time swimming in open water
Transition 1
  • 05m 40s
Comments:

T1 took longer-I didn't run to the transition station-was tried by the swim-seemed to take a long time to was off feet and get onto the bike-easy enough getting out of transition area and onto bike course
What would you do differently?:

run to the transition station right out of the water-this T1 time should have been cut in 1/2 which would have drastically improved my overall time
Bike
  • 1h 01m 58s
  • 15 miles
  • 14.52 mile/hr
Comments:

attack a little more-all in all felt good with my bike portion
What would you do differently?:

would go harder till the dismount-seemed to coast to early-need to go harder into the dismount area
Transition 2
  • 02m 28s
Comments:

T2 was good got into running equipment fast-but got lost quickly on how to go
What would you do differently?:

know the course better-spend at least a minute if not more trying to figure out where to go to get onto the run. Bad planning on my part-should have had that scoped out and mentally prepared for this
Run
  • 23m 25s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 49s  min/mile
What would you do differently?:

wouldn't really change anything-great push at the finish
Post race
Event comments:

I will be coming back every year-this was my marathon for tri's. Great race-will be back next year. Hopefully be able to chop off at least 10-15 minutes-better swim, alot better T1-running to transition, better bike-workout on more hills and know the course-know where to go to get onto the running course-to much wasted time getting to run course. Goal would be to get into the 1:30's for next year.
