Comments:

Enjoyed swim. Started to right as saw all pro's drifting heaving inside. pretty close to front for start as wanted to catch draft. Steady and easy....Buoy was a mess and did get smacked in head a few times but overall good. Was not tired so bomus
What would you do differently?:

Could push on swim

Comments:

loved the wetsuit removal and they just pulled it off. Ran through shower then dumped water (bought gallon) to remove most of salt. Took time in transtion but felt great

Pushed through rest it was hard but tried to enjoy
What would you do differently?:

Train...get miles on bike
Transition 2
  • 09m 27s
Comments:

was beat from run so had long slow transtion. Eat pb&J and walked through
Run
  • 5h 09m 44s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 11m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

wanted to just survive run as 1st ironman. Decided to walked every 3rd mile for 1st lap and then see how I stand. So ran 1st. 1 mile walk, ran 2nd then walked 3rd. then ran 4th, 1 minue, then ran 5th then walked 6th. pretty consistent and easy.

Felt strong after 1st loop but decided not to push as afaid of burnout so continued until mile 20 when I picked it up. And finished strong for a negative split. Feel I could have easily broke 5 hours as had a ton left. Maybe that was the excitement of finishing my 1st Ironman. Wow graet experience
What would you do differently?:

Train Train Train. Yes it was my 20th marathon but only made it to 10 miles in training. So very happy
Post race
Warm down:

Seeing my wife and having her cross the finish was amazing Then my beautiful ashley (16 months) was so happy to see her and my parents as the supported me throughout the race. Then off to Pizza it was amazing.
bought beer at dinner but was too tired so crashed

Event comments:

I am an Ironman. What a feeling. I know I can do it and now I just need to work on the training and get fully prepared for #2 . I even impressed myself.
