Swim
Comments: Thought I would "push it" more than usual this race on the swim. I did this and felt really good coming out of the water. The problem is, my time wasn't that much better, nor my ranking in my age group. I've worked a lot on swimming and seem to be stuck around 2min/100s. Don't know if that is good or bad but it would be nice to be in the top half of my age group What would you do differently?: This will be a focus over the off season. Mansfild Nat. has a master swim team, guess I'll have to join it to try to become a more efficient swimmer. Transition 1
Comments: Took my time and didn't have any problems What would you do differently?: Need to practice getting on the bike and clipped in. I stumbled a bit Bike
Comments: WOW was this bike ride FUN. Well, actually it sucked at the start. uphill into the wind for the frist 2 miles or so. but after that it was rolling hills (mostly down). I got into a good groove and played rabbit with other racers. Never did that before and it really made it enjoyable (since I was able to do it). Felt like I passed a lot of racers and that is a cool feeling (I know I am a MOP but it beats the heck out of getting passed all the time). You could really get the speed up on some of the down hills (high 30s) and roll right up the uphills. You really had to watch out for rough spots, I hit a couple that really jolted me. I must have thanked about 50 police and volunteers. There were a lot of intersections. For the most part they kept them clear during for me. What would you do differently?: I could have gone faster and should have pushed more. This was my second OLY and I didn't want to bonk on the run Transition 2
Comments: No problems. although a little slow Run
Comments: This was a good run for me. I only walked at the water stages and ran at a great pace for me. In training I run around 8 1/2 miles so to do that as a third leg is great. The course was through downtown so there was a lot to keep my interst as I ran (that really helps). It seemed to go by fast. My garmin had trouble keeping its signal with the buildings so my pace info wasn't there. Finished really strong at the end and would have caught the guy in front of me if someone hadn't alerted him. Great fun What would you do differently?: Train. Train. Train. Need to check my form and shoes. My ankles and feet were hurting a bit Post race
Warm down: The wet towel they provided at the finish was just what I needed. used that and drank and ate What limited your ability to perform faster: Training. Will take 2 weeks off and start my base training for the winter. Now my focus is on a 1/2IM in June and IMKY in AUG. I better enjoy these two weeks Event comments: They did a great job with organizing a very difficult race. I was really impressed with the amount of volunteers and everything seemed to go as planned. Great race Last updated: 2007-05-21 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4 and headed out to Reunion. Wanted to get there early. This was my first point to point so I wanted to leave myself enough time. Ate on the way there and drank water
Check and rechecked my T1 and hung out with a buddy that was doing the sprint. It was quite chilly before the sun came up so I walked around to keep warm for about an hour before my start
