Swim
Comments: At the swim start I went off with the beginners. I started in the middle of the pack. When we started there was seaweed everywhere! I couldn't swim without it getting caught in my arms and face until after the first bouy. Then I was ready to get into a rhythm for the longest stretch of the swim. But I guess I seeded myself too far back and couldn't stretch out because there were people everywhere. I would get in a couple strokes and then have to stop because of all of the people infront of me. So thats pretty much how it went until the finish. I felt good about my breathing and swimming when I was able to get into somewhat of a rhythm. My pace is exactly what I get in the pool so I guess it wasn't that bad. Definately better than my last OWS, but could be better. What would you do differently?: Seed myself higher in the begining. Be confident in my abilities. Transition 1
Comments: The T1 included a LONG run uphill to the transition area. What would you do differently?: Push myself to move faster when going to and from transitions. Bike
Comments: I felt good about my bike. I really pushed myself, I didn't coast down the hills, I tried to pedal through them. I passed a lot of people and didn't get passed by too many so that's good. I made it up the hills pretty easy considering everyone elses struggling and walking. What would you do differently?: Get a bike computer!!!! Transition 2
Comments: I passed up my transition area and had to double back. Other than that no major problems. What would you do differently?: Find my spot and don't go past it. Run
Comments: I thought I did really bad on the run, but my pace was actually better than I thought. I tried to minimize my walking and tried to run with someone if possible. I didnt' pace myself as well as I would have liked. It was so humid which made it feel a lot hotter than it was. And a lot hotter than what I've been training in. What would you do differently?: Practice running long distances. Be confident in my abilities!!! Push myself!!! Post race
Warm down: Got my towel and water bottle. Took some pictures and ate a burrito and listened to the music. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of experience. Lack of confidence in my abilities. Event comments: Great race. There were so many competitors and everyone was so nice. There was live music everywhere. The race was really geared toward the beginners...and made it a great memorable experience for them! There were lots of post race activities, I wish I could have stayed for more!! I will definately be comming back for this race next year, definatley worth the 6 hour drive and the money!!!! Last updated: 2007-05-23 12:00 AM

Got up at 5:30ish. Got all of our stuff packed and checked out of the hotel. Ate about 3/4 of a chocolate powerbar and a banana and drank about 10 oz of diluted gatorade. And hiked about mile from where we parked to the race site.
Other than the mile hike...I didn't do to much to warm up other than jump around and try not to get too nervous.
