Run
Comments: This was an absolutely beautiful race! I tried to take it easy as my half iron is in 6 days, but it was hard to hold back. My ankle started giving me a little bit of pain around mile 6 so I slowed up a bit and kept round a 9 minute pace. After mile 10 I told myself I was not going to run over a 2/hr half and just took it and ran. Oh well. :) There was A LOT of crowd support. We really lucked out with the weather. It was cool with a slight breeze, and not a cloud in the sky. There was a lot of great music and plenty of cheering fans and cheerleaders along the way so it was easy to get lost in the entertainment. Loved the sprinklers throughout the course! My favorite part was running the last 2.1 on the boardwalk along the beach. Definitely want to do this race every year. Gear check, crowd control, aid stations, shuttle service etc. was all well organized and there was plenty of water and food available afterwards. Post race
Warm down: This took a bit. After the run, my stomach was a little twisted. I had to keep walking for at least 20 minutes till I felt okay. My stomach cramped after I would drink water for a good 3 hours. I haven't run that far, or at that intensity since March before my accident. Layed on beach and enjoyed the sun and the music, and finally ate around 1...which was, of course, a bagel with strawberry cream cheese and pretzels! MMM. Event comments: I would recommend this race to anyone. It was one of the best experiences...and beautifully put together. Last updated: 2007-05-25 12:00 AM

Got up. Ate a cliff z-bar. Drank gatorade (strawberry fierce to be exact) and waited in line at the port-o-potties.
Slept on grass and watched the sun rise while waiting for corrals to open.
