Swim
Comments: Pool start. Kinda of wierd. Passed 3-4 swimmers. Time was good but I am going to have to slow down for the longer swims. I was beat at the end of 200 meters. What would you do differently?: I got stuck behind some slow people and therefore I had to stop twice. It was hard to pass the other swimmers. Now I know to give a "goal" time next time I register. It did not pay to give a conservative swim time. Transition 1
Comments: I am guessing at this transition time because they added T1 to the bike leg. I gave this time based on some of the better transition times posted in 2006 for the same race. What would you do differently?: T-1 went very well. It almost seemed too easy. Bike
Comments: Bike was good. I thought I was going to average above 20 until I hit a significant hill aroun 5.5 miles. No one past me. I would estimate that I past 15-20 people. What would you do differently?: Drink less. I felt like I was going to puke on the bike and run because I think I drank too much Transition 2
Comments: I am guessing this time a again because they added the T-2 time to the run leg. The estimate is based on an above average T-2 time from last year. What would you do differently?: I missed my rack when I entered the transition. I ran the bike to the first group of bikes I saw, thinking I would have been with them, but I was wrong. I forgot how many people that started the swim before me that I passed on the bike portion (We were "racked" based on our estimated swim time" Foolish mistake. I then had to run back to my rack. Run
Comments: Bad, Bad, Bad. I started the run with a severe cramp in my left calf. I was worried that I would have to walk. I felt very slow for the whole run. I also felt like I was going to puke. My legs were not too bad but my respitory infection and the humidity killed my lungs. I could not get going. What would you do differently?: 1) Eat better during the week leading up to the race 2) Drink a little less 3) Save a little energy on the bike. Post race
Warm down: Gasping for air and papa johns pizza What limited your ability to perform faster: 1) Respitory infection 2) Humidity 3) Poor diet (I am visiting Nashville and I can't pass up the BBQ) Event comments: I am glad to get the first one out of the way. It went fairly well. I would change some minor things next time. It was fun and now I am hooked. Last updated: 2007-05-25 12:00 AM
