  • Comments: Race used the Tri-Tats system. Didn't like it. Tats are OK, but they provide STICKERS for a million different things and that's a big pain on the morning of the race. Stickers were even to be stuck to race clothing and raced in! Most of them came off in the water. Big failure.

  • Comments: I had a blast. I could not believe how nice everyone was. The repair guys and the Team Magic folks were great. The offical results show me 219/219 but 366 people racing. I do not know if 147 DNF (I hope not). I've got no where to go but up.

  • Comments: This is a great beginner race. Again, it was my first triathlon. This will teach you all the basics of setup, transition, soreness, putting all three together, etc. Great beginner race put on by Team-Magic. I love it, and now I'm hooked. Oh, and I put the time changes above not to say I could have had a better time (because my time is my time), but to show people that the littlest of things (proper clothing and preparation, listening, etc.) can subtract needed minutes from your overall time. Takeaways - buy a runner's belt, invest in the triathlon one-piece (I had a friend tell me he didn't want to buy one because most people who wear them are studs - hell, who gives a damn, if it takes time of your race and you don't mind investing the money, why not?), listen to race overview, run more after your bike workouts, and hydrate like a mofo.

  • Comments: A fun, surprisingly well-organized local tri. If we were here next summer, I would definitely come back and do it again. Doesn't hurt much that I was top 10 overall. Ironman not taken into consideration, this has been my best effort out of all my races. Training volume wasn't really a concern, since I'm probably at Oly-HIM level now. This was a very beginner friendly race, so the overall competition level was fairly low, which was nice. It was kinda cool to be at a race and not see everybody's bike blinged out with $3k of accessories. This race was a ton of fun. Hard but easy (in that I don't really need to recover from it). Well run, great course, helpful volunteers, good police presence at the intersections. A+ to Team Magic.
