Total Time = 00m
Overall Rank = 67/325
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 8/27
Pre-race routine:

ate an assortment of lasagna and ravioli and bread for dinner; ate oatmeal and a piece of peanut butter toast for breakfast; drank a mini gatorade before race; halfway through bike ate an energy gel with gatorade; drank about 32 ounces total on bike
Swim
  • 07m 51s
  • 350 meters
  • 02m 14s / 100 meters
Comments:

swim was fun; felt good to swim 50 meters w/o having to turn @ 25 mtrs
What would you do differently?:

I don't know if I would have anything differently; swim faster
Transition 1
  • 02m 15s
Comments:

transition felt alright; 200yards away from end of swim;
What would you do differently?:

i need to learn to trust that I have everything and just take off
Bike
  • 39m 40s
  • 12.8 miles
  • 19.36 mile/hr
Comments:

enjoyed the ride; held back for fear of knee hurting again; also a little uncertainty on having to run a 5k afterward; more 5k confidence would have helped me bike a bit harder even with the knee fear; definately held back from pushing a gear that felt big
What would you do differently?:

push a little harder; had more in me than I gave; my ideal goal was 20mph avg
Transition 2
  • 00m 51s
Comments:

fun jumping off the bike going fast; quite enjoyable
What would you do differently?:

i need to trust that i have everything and just go; stopped for a second to double check that i wasn't missing anything
Run
  • 24m 23s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 52s  min/mile
Comments:

started wobbly... sped up about the right time but at halfway began slowing down until caught and encouraged by a girl; sped up immediately and held a solid pace until the end with a solid kick
What would you do differently?:

could have started kick earlier; trust my pace.. don't mentally blank out which causes me to slow down-have done that the last two tri's; maybe slow down @ drinking stations and make sure I actually swallow water and not spill it
Post race
Warm down:

hug Carter and Bethany; eat banana; slight stretching

What limited your ability to perform faster:

fear of knee hurting; comfort in knowing I can push a solid 5k after everything else is done

Event comments:

really enjoyed the race; my brother knew 5 other people there so hung around talking with them afterward; would definately do it again if in TX at time
