  • Overall course based on my ability: Too easy

  • Comments: Kind of glad that I wasn't able to do SBR and instead had to do this race. It's very short and easy and probably just what I needed to get back into racing.

  • Comments: I enjoyed the whole experience. I thought the race was the right size for my first triathlon in 6 years. This was my second triathlon and the first one I prepared for. It served as a good checkpoint for my October Tri. I signed up for Clydesdale (I'm @204lb) and was surprised there were only a handful of people in the group. I think I'll sign up in the normal age group brackets next time.

  • Comments: Overall it was a good race. The park is nice, and the location is close to where I live so I like that. With that said, I won't be doing this race again, unless they change the bike course or fix the roads inside the park. It was just too dangerous with all the cracks in the road.

  • Comments: Kayak people didn't show - they allowed refunds for people that don't want to swim without kayaks (there was a rescue boat). Bike course was bad with lots of cracks and gravel. Worst part though has to be the parking lot - it is chip seal and full of gravel. Very hard and painful to run on. Finally, I don't think the course was measured correctly. Swim/Bike/Run courses were all short.

  • Comments: Top notch local race that is CLOSE to where I live. Always a selling point for me to drive 20 minutes to a race. A nice race for a great cause (the Fire Department).

  • Comments: Had a good time and took 3rd in old big guys. Not bad, could have easily taken off enough time to get 1st if I knew it was going to be that close. Transitions have a lot of time to save, bike has huge chunks and the run as well. Not bad for an injury and only 3.5 weeks of training, I will take it all day.

  • Comments: I would rate this race higher except for 3 things - the run from the indoor pool to the bike racks was pretty long and there were slippery sections in the building that can use more carpet; secondly, the bike course roads had a lot of holes/cracks. Would've been nice to fill in the big ones, especially the ones on N. Colony; third thing was the run course on the narrow sidewalks wasn't that great and made passing a bit difficult at times.

  • Comments: I had a pretty good heal injury right after Longhorn last year and didn't get back to training until around later May/early June this year. Given the fact that I dropped almost 2 minutes from last year and my run is in pretty much the same place as it was last year, I think I did OK. I need to continue my training though so I am ready for Redman next month. It's a fun event right in my backyard. This was the third year for the TOTH and the third time I have competed in it. I plan to continue doing this event as long as they have it and hopefully continue to knock time off. I've gone from a 1:34 to a 1:14 and now a 1:12. Gotta get under 1:10 next year.

  • Comments: So even though I placed second in my age group, the guy who was first was actually 3rd overall. So this bumped me up to 1st in my AG. I had wanted to place in my AG ever since I started doing triathlons in March. This has been truly amazing for me since last year I was so out of shape, I could barely swim 100m or run 2 miles without getting winded. To have such a turnaround has been truly amazing.

  • Comments: FINALLY My first TRI! cant wait to improve. I really felt I left 4 to 5 mins out there - mostly on swim and bike. I need to practice transitions as I never have before. I also only did one bike to run brick practice, so overall I am very HAPPY about my performance!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comments: I'm proud of my improvement and look forward to improving in all areas. Having one race anniversary down...I have Tri the Rock next week to see how I imrpove (hopefully) vs. last years race. Yeah, one week after doing my first tri...we signed up the day before the race (talk about getting the tri bug!) Plus, Tri the Rock is a rolling hills bike course in preparation for 70.3 Longhorn in 1.5 months). Thanks to my girfriend Angie for being the ultimate cheering section/picture taker/encourager and believing in me. Sorry to the BT'ers I didn't get a chance to talk to before/during or after the race...great job to all of you!

  • Comments: I think my main interest in this race is the fact that it is in The Colony. When my family moved there 28 years ago, the thought of a triathlon there would have been just crazy (especially with the two-lane highway of 423). Good cause to support the firefighters and I plan to make the trip again next year.

  • Comments: Race was good. I still have no idea why it took so long for everyone to start. I mean I was done for a good 20 minutes before the last person got out of the pool. I mean they can do IMKY in 40 minutes but over 1.5hrs for 400 people. Did not effect me I just felt bad for them. Bike/Run placements are disappointing in that I am now placing higher in swimming than bike/run. My first race ever I was 230/55/58 (out of 280) and this race I was 39/53/77 out of 383. Part of this is lack of running fitness leading up to race and the fact that I don't do alot of speed work for shorter rides. I just jump on my bike and go.
