Swim
Comments: The swim felt terrible. I had a borrowed wetsuit instead of mine and I felt like a Knight from the dark ages. The swim include a 150 yeard run uphill to the transition area. Not sure why, but the swim was one of my worst. What would you do differently?: I wouldn't do it differently, but it would have helped if I didn't train the day before - but this was a last minute race for me and not important Transition 1
Comments: Good transition, even with the foreign wetsuit that wanted to make love to my ankles What would you do differently?: Use my own wetsuit - not try another one Bike
Comments: Where to start? Bike was going well until in during a strong pedaling effort around 25 mph my chain hoped off. Not only that, it looped around my ankle. It is a mystery why my chain came off when it did and how it got the position it did. It took me a good minute to stop, untangle, and get back going. Next, a genius of a volunteer has me turn around before T2 when I was not supposed to. I am beating myself over this one, b/c I knew it wasn't right. But when a guy with a 5' sign says turnaround here, I listedned. That really screwed me. Lost an easy 2 minutes. My problems made for a horrible result What would you do differently?: Tell HFP to get a clue about their volunteers...I will elaborate later...I normally don't pick on volunteers. Transition 2
Comments: Good transition...pissed off What would you do differently?: Rode over the volunteer! Run
Comments: At this point, I was just not into the race. My mentality was not there - thus my run sucked. The run started with us running thru a ditch, a real ditch - and it was completely unnecessary. Volunteers had problems handing out water. I had to grab it off the table on two occassions as volunteers stood there. My conclusion, I can only blame the volunteers on HFP Racing - they obviously did not prep them enough. Come on people, we are talking the basics. Post race
Warm down: Not much, I wanted to get the hell out of there What limited your ability to perform faster: My head was not in it. Had bike problems Event comments: I rated this the worst race I have done. I was disappointed with HFP from the moment I arrived on Saturday. There were no signs to the event...and I thought they were needed. They were not ready for packet-pickup when we came on Saturday, plus the chips and caps were not even there. Then we got there on Sunday they were not ready. Between uninformed volunteers (blame on HFP), running through ditches, a lack of first class organization, and the International Triathlon results not being posted until Tuesday, I did not enjoy the race. HFP has done plenty of good races, I am not sure what happened. Last updated: 2007-06-06 12:00 AM

Overall Rank = 21/

Age Group Rank = 5/14
Woke up at 5:00 and actually biked 8 miles to the course...in the pouring rain. Ate 2 Cliff Bars and had 30 oz of Powerade
Rode 8 miles to get there, and then ran about 1.5 miles. Enough to get me warm.
