Age Group Rank = 7/9
Pre-race routine:

Woke up, ate a tasty whole wheat English muffin with black raspberry jam, glass of OJ and an Ensure shake. At 4 a.m. Ouch.
Event warmup:

None! We were running late, so I barely had time to set up my transition area before heading down to the water. Spent a few minutes stretching my upper body, but come to think of it, didn't do much with the lower body...
Swim
  • 33m 51s
  • 1600 yards
  • 02m 07s / 100 yards
Comments:

I actually drafted off a couple of people (accidentally, because I wasn't trying to, but kept falling into a draft location behind other swimmers. Awesome!).
What would you do differently?:

I dunno. Swim faster?
Transition 1
  • 02m 12s
Comments:

Because we were late coming to the race, didn't have time to reset my bike computer, had to stop in the first 30 seconds to do so (I really wanted to have an accurate time and distance gauge!!). That slowed me down.
What would you do differently?:

Reset bike computer BEFORE race...D'oh.
Bike
  • 1h 33m
  • 24.6 miles
  • 15.87 mile/hr
Comments:

My butt was sore when I came in for the final leg, but I felt great! Fastest I've ever done the full distance, even though I was practically last.
What would you do differently?:

Practice riding hills more.
Transition 2
  • 00m 57s
Comments:

Fast transition, but the rack was crowded, couldn't get my bike back up, so had to park it on the kickstand (yeah, my bike has a kickstand). Otherwise, all I had to do was take off my helmet, throw on my pedometer (which malfunctioned in the end and didn't read the right distance, grrrr, think it needs a new battery) and go.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I was happy with this transition.
Run
  • 51m 13s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 15s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run, I would have been happy with a 9:30 min/mile, but ended up doing 8:15! Did a lot of mantra chanting on the run, because I'm not a fast swimmer or cyclist, but I love running and if I couldn't at least meet my goal on this, I would have been ashamed.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretching, walking around, sitting around, eating watermelon. A good cooldown.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Equipment. And me. :) But this being my first, I was very pleased.

Event comments:

This was an excellent race, well organized, great course, wonderful athletes and volunteers. I had a really good time, and would definitely recommend it--and come back again next year, faster and better than ever!!

Performance: Good
Swim felt good. I did a little heavy breathing at the beginning (nerves, adrenaline) but otherwise, felt strong.
Suit: Just a tri suit!
Course: Big buoys. Out to the right and around back to the boat loading dock. Nice folks there pulling us all out of the water, because the ramp was slimy and slippery. I love swimming in lake water. No chlorine, no salt. It felt good.

Course: The hills were hard, but I sat down on them, only stood once or twice (particularly the one brutal hill coming out of T1...that's just mean). It was two loops for the Olympic distance. Passed some woman who had crashed on the second loop. Sobering (but heard she was ok). The course was closed to traffic, totally awesome. There were plenty of rolling hills, but most of them came off of a nice downhill, so you didn't feel the burn until you were already halfway up it anyway. Lots of volunteers handing out "margaritas" (Gatorade), but didn't need it.
