Swim
Comments: My second OWS was a much better experience than my first (Play-tri). Still had thoughts of raising my hand. Gutted it out and made it through. Thank God! I learned to breathe on both sides when swimming. I usually breathe every 3rd stroke, but in my 2 OWS I end up breathing eveery stroke. If somebody was on one side of me I would just stroke and breathe on the other side. Didn't have to beat anybody up to make the turns. Overall, not to brutal. For some reason, swimming in close contact with others doesn't bother me at all. I really tried to relax and make it through. I did get freaked out swimming through the weeds at the first buoy. It felt like the weeds were tangling around my arms and my legs. What would you do differently?: More OWS practice. Try to relax even more. I have two more OWS races before my Oly in Sept. Those and some OWS practice and I should be good to go. Transition 1
Comments: I bike in socks and don't swim with my tri top on so I take a little longer in T1 to put these things on. What would you do differently?: lose weight so I don't look like a sausage in a better fitting tri top and swim in it. Consider biking w/out socks. Bike
Comments: Best bike leg overall. Averaged over 20mph for the first time in a race. It shows that the TITS is working. I didn't check to make sure my bike was in the right gear before I racked. I ended up in my small ring for the first part of the ride. Probably wasn't a bad thing because I got spinning early and the legs felt good. What would you do differently?: Check my gears. More TITS! Transition 2
Comments: Could be faster. What would you do differently?: Practice Run
Comments: Legs felt pretty goos the whole time. Didn't take any gels or anything during the race so I think I have my nutrition figured out. Had a diluted gatorade bottle on the bike that I drank 1/2 of and didn't cramp up or puke this time. I wanted to come in better than 8 min/mile which I did... barely. I need to incorporate a brick per week and do some longer distances in training. One of the guys from my swim group was volunteering at a water station. Threw a cup of water on him. Probably should have drank it or dumped it over my head. What would you do differently?: Longer training distance and more bricks. Post race
Warm down: got some goodies and walked around. I was going to introduce myself to the BTers that were there, but I was so damn hot all I could think about was changing clothes and sitting in the AC of the car. I'm not the most social guy, but have been following quite a few of you guys on here. I'll try and make more of an effort at Disco. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing really. Just keep training and TITS. It was nice to pass guys and their ass jewelry on the bike. I say this because I'm jealous. I'll admit it. I have bike envy. Event comments: Better directions so I don't get lost and miss a warm up. Last updated: 2007-06-09 12:00 AM

Got up at 4:30, had my oatmeal and headed out for the race.
Didn't get much of a warmup in. By the time I got parked and set up in transition it was time for the prerace meeting. Did get to swim a little after the meeting.
I got my directions off the internet from the IRP site. Those directions took me to som subdivision in Grapevine. Luckily I spotted somebody with a bike on the car that knew where they were going and followed them to Lynn Creek Park.
Getting lost ate up my warm up time... so there you have it.
