Swim
Comments: To say this was a disaster would be an understatement!!! This was my first (obviously) swim involving a huge crowd of people. I was not comfortable at all from the start and that pretty much set the tone for the rest of the swim. I started to panic a bit and my form as well as breathing was no good! Definitely a lesson learned! What would you do differently?: Swim, swim, swim! Must practice OW swimming and try not to freak out as much and take my time. Transition 1
Comments: first ever transition...went as well as expected, no surprises What would you do differently?: not much Bike
Comments: It felt great to be out of the water! Made some serious gains on the bike course, was able to pass all the people that passed me in the swim, over-all good ride. What would you do differently?: Not much, maybe train a little more and get my average speed up a little. Transition 2
Comments: pretty good transition, almost ran past my rack Run
Comments: very good run, took a bit to get used to running after biking, started getting a cramp in the right side of my stomach half way through. What would you do differently?: not too much, maybe do more bricks Post race
Warm down: walking around and chatting with friends and family, should have stretched. What limited your ability to perform faster: lack of preparation for the swim, getting freaked out by all the bodies crammed together. Event comments: Overall great venue, not much to compare it to as it was my first race, but will definitely return! Last updated: 2007-06-14 12:00 AM

I went to the race site on Friday and drove the Run and bike course. Saturday morning I got there nice and early, picked up my race kit, got set up and did a walk-about of the area.
Warm-up consisted of a swim, maybe 100m or so about 25 minutes before the race, felt pretty comfortable in the water considering it was my first OW swim.
