Comments: I was a little stressed so breathed more often than normal & wasn't rolling enough. It was my first time swimming in a wetsuit. What would you do differently?: Remember to relax. Pull the wetsuit up a bit more so it wasn't as tight on the shoulders. Transition 1
Comments: Run from beach to transition is very short but the ground had lots of little tiny rocks so it was kind of painful. What would you do differently?: Start with shoes already on the bike. Bike
Comments: Nearly fell off going around the pylon at the turnaround. Passed people on almost every hill. Only got passed by older guys from the wave after me. Bike time includes both transitions. Transition 2
Comments: Just ran in bike shoes (didn't leave them on bike). What would you do differently?: Leave shoes on bike. Run
Comments: Ran comfortably; should have been able to go a little faster. Passed a few people, didn't get passed by anyone. What would you do differently?: Familiarize myself with the course before the race. Post race
Warm down: Felt pretty wiped out after the race. At a delicious chocolate Gu gel, and wandered around for a while. That was it for warm-down. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not knowing exactly where I was going during the run. Overall I had a very good race but I may have been able to push slightly harder in the last half of the run. Event comments: Need some marshalls on the run. The try-a-tri felt a bit short. Got there kind of late. By the time I registered and set up my transition spot it was 15 min to race time. I had just enough time to go to the washroom, put on my wetsuit, and swim a few strokes. So not much of a "pre-race routine" or warmup this time.
